Excellent breakdown. I faced this decision in September. After reviewing Pi prices vs a mini tower I paid $101 on Amazon for a refurbished mini tower and it's been hosting Batocera in my cab ever since. Turned out it wasn't much of decision after all.

Anxious to see what this video going to show us. I have a RBPi 3B+ for emulation but now got a Pi 5 for the same reason. Just experiemnting things. I think this'll be my second and last Pi I buy. Mini PC's are litteraly stealing that spot as bein the perfect machines for emulation.

I have one big problem with this kind of comparison - you never mentioned the biggest advantage of the Pi, which is low power consumption.

Thanks for this incredibly helpful video. I had a pi build previously, but after watching this I tracked down a elite desk and followed your other tutorial for setting up with batocera. It works so much better than what I was using and was a breeze to set up.

Thank you so much for giving some options, as well as a breakdown of what to look for.

Great video. Thank you. Recently you did a video on the retro shooter and recommended pairing it with a mini pc and the Kris Cool mod. Would one of these mini pc’s work for that setup? Thanks again

I gave away my Pi4 as a birthday gift just before the price gouging began. I was so turned off by the markups, I moved on and bought 3 different retired office mini-PCs that emulated more systems that my Pi4. I also got into the Batocera front-end on my PCs, and haven't looked back.

I agree brother. The only pi that I'll be grabbing is a plate of apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. PC emulation is the way to go!

U should make more videos of how to set up mini pcs into a retrogaming like a pi

I retired a Pi4 for a Beelink mini pc, for my emulation, haven't looked back or regretted the move.

I wanted to upgrade my pi3 but price held me back. Saw your video on the HP g2 mini. Found one for $55 for 16gb without ssd, ordered a 1tb and I’m in for 110. Eager to try this build

Waiting for second gen version of the board, and seeing if case makers like retroflag or argon40 have any good cases that use nvme storage directly.

Currently $160 on amazon Canada for the bare board. I can get the majority of what I need from existing parts, but even if I go with an ice tower "pc" case, it's cheaper than a hp 800 g3.

I bought one and then bought a hat so I could attach an m2 drive. It’s fun to play with but for retro gaming, I would go for one of those nifty mini-pcs you’ve been showing. I was on a list before launch so I got the pi for normal price.
