The Final Hours of Sam Kinison’s Life

Nobody saw comedy genius Sam Kinison’s death coming - at least not the way it happened. Most people assumed he’d succumb to substance abuse, but Kinison said he had that under control. Things actually looked good for Kinison leading up to his death: He just got married days earlier, and he was experiencing a career resurgence. Then an intoxicated teenage driver in a pick-up truck came along...

It amazes me how drunk drivers almost always manage to walk away from these crashes while taking an innocent person’s life.

This is tragic a man lost his a life and the killer got a slap on the wrist. There’s people in prison for 30 years on marijuana charges.

How unfair! 17 is absolutely old enough to take responsibility for your actions, especially when you kill someone! RIP Sam.

I find the conversation with God very compelling! When my dad's brother was dying, I am told he was talking to my daddy, who had died about 2 years prior, and their mother. It totally changed my views on death.

His appearance on Married With Children was legendary!

What a terrible tragedy. Sam gets his life together just to have it instantly taken away. RIP Sam.

Sad he went out that way, he seemed to be finally getting his life on track.

I remember very well hearing about his death. The entire even was ironic. A man infamous for his substance abuse, sober and killed by someone under the influence. His conversation with God is something that got around quickly. I still find it haunting.

The day I returned from Desert Storm the Army had put us in the Antlers Doubletree in Colo Sorings Colo. While we were checking in Sam Kenison arrived and did his signature screaming skit yelling that we “were back and the we’d kicked Saddam’s ass” he then graciously talked with us and thanked us for our service. I’ll never forget it!! RIP Sam!!!

When I first read about his death, I teared up. So haunting. I hope his soul is at peace.

I remember hearing of his conversation with God. So very helpful to us still here. Watched the Johnny Carson re-run with Kinison the other day. Not only a talented comedian but the young man could sing too. So sorry this happened to him. The person who drove like a lunatic should never have his hands on a vehicle again.

I saw Sam in 1987 in Los Angeles. He was hilarious and full of energy. He is so missed. We need his type of comedy today.

While Sam was not my cup of tea, it is terrible how he was killed and that his killer got only a slap on the wrist. Rip.

I honestly thought he died of an OD, this is actually more sad.

I saw him perform in Monterey, CA, shortly before his death.

It was one of those backwards situations where Sam, the headliner, went on first, and the band I was roadie for, closed out the night.

Probably the best comedy show I've ever seen.

I sure do miss Sam Kinison. He sure had an "electrifying" live show! I was amazed at how well he could play the Electric Guitar. Multi-talented person. We miss you buddy.
