How to Install a Cell Phone Booster | WeBoost Drive Reach Overland

Показать описание
Cell phone boosters are a tool that have become popular in the overlanding space due to their simplicity and ability to utilize an existing service that you pay for, your phone.

The WeBoost Drive Reach Overland is made with overlanders in mind! The all-new mounting system gives endless options for mounting to a roof rack, crossbars, or even your tent.

This system gives additional flexibility for maintaining cell signal when out and about for working, streaming, or staying in touch with family and friends.

While a cell phone booster does not create cell signal, it is able to give you the additional power to access signal when you are close to a local tower.

Man, your garage area is immaculate! I’m impressed. I’m currently running a We:Boost system on my Tacoma Trd off-road. I love it so far, I routed it to a button /switch next to my left steering wheel side cluster. It’s an great addition to any off road or overland vehicle, especially if you’ll be going into the mountains or Desert areas. Also a Rugged radios 2-way radio system is a must-have 👍

I got one of these over a year ago and was one of the best decisions I ever made.

I have the next step down from that one, I use it in my Hiker camper off grid and in my Jeep. Works great other than the phone has to be in a cradle. Wish I would have got this one you put in but I would have been limited to either the trailer or the Jeep.

You folks are always informative and entertaining. In this vid you mention you had a HAM radio. I about to test for my Tech license. Perhaps you could share information on your Ham and antenna match?
I know Clay gave a pitch on different Comms, but I would love to hear bout you set up.

Could this be installed on the roof of a Travel Trailer? It looks like you could unscrew the knob and lay it flat during hwy travel, and then raise it when stationary. I know weboost has an RV version of this, but I also saw they advertise the Overland version as having their best signal, and it's only $30 more than the RV version. Maybe the Overland version doesn't come with enough cable length that would be needed in a Travel Trailer? Just curious if anyone knows about this idea.

Hey Tanner, my lift gate started to wear through the antenna wire so watch for that. I ended up running it up the aft pillar (D) and out the shark fin antenna housing. Small hole with a step bit, grommet and weather sealant. The plan is to actually add a dual solar port to the roof for the added light/WeBoost antenna cables. Nice build!!

Just put a 5g hotspot with external puck antenna on the roof, and then use wifi calling. Bonus if you also connect a starlink roof antenna and run both on a sdwan router like peplink

Do you have a link to the "t nuts" you use when mounting things to the roof rack? Love the intsall.

So I had the extension installed, and now want to run the shorter version like you have. I can seem to pull the wire through the longer extension. Did you run into this?

Why didn’t you utilize the spring that came with your kit?

Pro-tip: Why drilling the body? Just run the cable down in behind the tail light and route it through the existing grommet. You're welcome!

Oh and in regards to the internal antenna: Just put it onto the headliner, right in the middle of the vehicle. Best position and stealth.

Great install - thanks for the tips - Can you keep a solid signal from Bozeman to Ennis?

Did you do anything to waterproof the antenna to antenna cable connection?

I’m glad to see this install, we have been discussing getting one for our own 4Runner. Why did you not mount the emitter antenna in the center console? That seems like it would have been the obvious pick for location to service all occupants?

Great video and I have done this mod differently with running the cable along the edge of the windshield & securing it with black weather seal. Did you notice any adverse affects of connecting to the switch pros directly? Wished that weboost provided a relay for that alt power source. Do you think hauling cargo cases or a tent above will affect your signal without the antenna extension? I love new Mount with the antenna, nice!
