How to Install Inside Mount Honeycomb/Cellular Shades

Most people think installing their own blinds is hard. Following the simple, step-by-step instructions in this video though makes hanging your custom honeycomb/cellular shades easy to do yourself! Just screw in your brackets, snap on the headrail and you’re done!

Here’s how you do it:

1. Depending on the width of your shade, you may need more than two brackets, which can be centered between your outermost brackets. Once you've decided where each bracket will be placed, mark these areas with a pencil.

2. Use the holes in the top of each bracket to mark where the screws will go.

3. Measure between your marks to make sure they’re aligned before you screw them in. We also recommend pre-drilling pilot holes once everything’s aligned. This makes it easier to drill your screws in.

4. One at a time, place each bracket over the marks or holes you’ve made and drill the screws in loosely. This gives you a little wiggle room for any adjustments to make sure the brackets are straight and aligned.

5. Finish drilling in the screws all the way.

6. With the front of the shade facing you, tilt the headrail slightly back to angle the front inside lip of it onto the brackets.

7. In the same movement, push the headrail back and up to snap it into place. You’ll hear a sharp click when it is.

8. If your shade is not cordless, attach the lift handle and you’re done!

9. Congratulations! You just installed your own cellular shade! Wasn’t that easy?

I just installed these shades (top down bottom up versions) and just wanted to say thanks for this video! They were very easy to install, snap in, and remove (I wanted to adjust the spacing of a bracket and was easily able to remove the shade, fix, and put it back). I'll be ordering more for my other windows — super happy.

Thanks for the video! When I saw the way too much detail instruction booklet that the shade came with, I headed straight for Youtube. Easy!

Thank you. My blind fell out of the track and it's been years since I've had to remember how it goes in. This helped.

These blinds went up without a hitch, (so far) three up, 6 to go! Looking good and great quality!

Received my shade from FedEx and had it up all within 30 minutes. Wish you would have showed a video on how to use the white brackets for my cellular shade. Also, would be nice to have 2 clip-on handles instead of just one; makes lifting a little easier. Overall, I am satisfied.

They act like this is so easy and fast. I eventually installed the blinds, but it was a time consuming pain in the rear end and hated every moment of it.

I have different brackets that were sent to me on 09/22/23. Is there an updated video for that?

I just opened up the box of my Allen and Roth Cordless Cellular Shades in Linen. I have put up many blinds in my lifetime, but I could not figure out for the life of me in which direction the brackets went. What made it worse was that there WERE NO INSTRUCTIONS in the box. I looked at two videos on YouTube. The first video showed a man installing the brackets from a distance without a close-up of the direction of the brackets. The second video showed a woman putting up brackets for the same product that look nothing like the brackets that came with the shades. Since I don't want to make a mess with the installation, I'm going to have to hire my handyman to do it for me.

I have spent about 2 hours trying to install a shade with 3 brackets, made sure they are all aligned, it's takes a lot of pressure to get all 3 on apparently.

Installed these today. The instructions that came with it said to pre-drill using a 3/32" drill bit which I did. But that was way too small compared to the size of the screws supplied. Was too hard to get the screws in so I had to drill bigger holes. I found out after (from the BobVila site), "If you are creating a pilot hole for a screw, the drill bit should be the same size as the body of the screw—not including the threads." SelectBlinds needs to correct their instructions.

The manual shows 2-½" spacing on the side in one picture (inside mount diagram on pages 3), and 3" in another diagram on page 2 for "bracket installation". You should get those two to be consistent, or mention that inside mount specifically wants a different measurement from the side of the window wall.

It's a little more than "hanging a picture" lol....but none the less for these cellulars..super easy

Was able to install based on these instructions, but it should be mentioned that for the remote control shades, you need to program the shade BEFORE putting it up to link it to the remote.

I just got my shade yesterday. The brackets went up easily, yet snapping in the shade is not working. Getting all three brackets to 'snap in place' seems impossible.

What size pilot hole should you drill?

I just received my Select Blinds Cellular shades, but the mount is different than shown in this video, and I can't for the life of me figure out which end is the top and how it is supposed to be oriented....

I never used screwdriver. I bought one and afraid to use and making hole too big. How do I know I am not making loose hole.

I have some of their older shades I'm trying to put back up. Good luck in putting back up a longer shade, as you'll need about 3 people to do it! Ugh! Took me forever! 😬😬😬
