In this brief video, I show you were to check an fill the oil on your antique Farmall Tractor -- also where the drain plug is as well as the oil filter. Some of the stuff is pretty obvious, but checking the oil level may be difficult for someone who has never worked with antique tractors.

Here are some more videos on the Farmall A for those who are interested:

Thank you for this! It's exactly the way I remember my dad showing me when I was about 10 or 11. It's good to have confirmation of what I remember Dad showing me back in the day.

Thanks. It’s great to still use these old beasts to get some work done.

For gasoline engines the oil is supposed to be topped up to the upper petcock at the end of every full work day. The lower petcock is actually used for distillate engines which have substantial oil dilution from the low grade fuel, at the end of a work day with distillate you drain the oil to the lower petcock then refill to the upper. Distillate engines also tend to use one sae grade thicker oil for a given outside temperature because of the fuel dilution. (A distillate engine is not a diesel engine.)

A good source of information about this stuff is yesterdaystractors.com. People on the forum there are pretty helpful.
