PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE T129 ATAK helicopter acquisition to PUSH THROUGH

The Philippine Air Force’s (PAF’s) technical working group originally selected the T129 for its attack helicopter programme in late 2018. Since then, the sale of the platform to the PAF has been delayed due to US sales restrictions on the T129’s US-made LHTEC CTS800-4A engine.

The Philippines DND has reaffirmed its plan to procure the T129 ATAK combat helicopter from Turkish Aerospace (TA). However, it will seek guarantees from Turkey about the platform’s export availability.
Arsenio Andolong, the DND’s chief of public affairs, told Janes on 13 July that the DND retained an intention to procure the T129 platform despite complications with Turkey’s ability to export the helicopter.

“The DND will push through with the acquisition of the T129 ATAK offered by Turkish Aerospace,” said Andolong, adding, “We will require [Turkey] to commit to certain guarantees before proceeding with the acquisition.” Andolong said the required guarantees would be in response to concerns in Manila over the export-availability of the platform.

Andolong’s comments follow a reported decision by the PAF’s technical working group in June to discontinue efforts to procure the T129 in favour of an attack helicopter platform from the United States.

Seems like dnd and twg have factions internally.. not good.

T129 is the better attack helicopter compare to the Viper. PAF does not need the Apache, it's just too expensive. 24 units of T129 & 12 units of Super Tucano are more than enough air power to deal with it's internal problems.

My understanding of the process is the branch of service to check which helo pass their requirements (technical and tactical) all those who pass are all recommended to the next level - DND... the DND can adopt all recommedations or choose from the recommendations...then forward to the next level... it seems that lower level is competiting with higher level which is strange...or is the news media sowing intrigue...or propaganda...

Binubulongan ng mga Kano suguro yung ilan diyan sa PAF na i-drop ang T129 ng Turkey. Dami pa rin sigurong Amboy sa AFP. Buti na lang pinaglalaban pa rin ng Turkey yung product nila.

I think this T129 is ideal for our AFP but US pursue to buy us their attack helis and I think also that US was secretly imposed sunctions on Turkey’s T129 attack heli’s engines/accessories...so Phils have no other options but to purchase these US attack helis which are very expensive 🇵🇭👌👍

T129 is a TANK killer and expensive. There's no enemy tanks in the Philippines. Against insurgents. The Cobra can do the same job.

T129B attack helicopter is the best choice of the Philippines Air Force instead of AH-64E of the US attack helicopter

Why are the DND insisting with this ATAK 129? Are they really want the modernization or what? The engine certification will take several years....so if they insist for ATAK the PAF will need to wait 3 years or more for the engine to be certified plus the manufacturing? So where is the said to be "URGENCY"?
