Don't buy a Shimano rod. The warranty service from Shimano for their rods used to be great but now it is horrible. Formerly when I had a Shimano rod break under warranty I would go to the local show where I purchased it and the Shimano rep would come verify if it was a warranty repair and then I would have an exact same replacement rod from the same store right off the shelf - about a two day process. Recently I had a new Shimano rod break under warranty. I had to go to my local fishing shop to find an extra cardboard shipping tube. Then I had to drive to UPS store and spend $60 (not reimbursed) to mail the rod from SC to California. Then I receive some kind of a PO document via email from Shimano which doesn't tell me much like when is my rod going to be replaced? Shimano didn't send me this information rather I had to call to find out that my replacement rod is on backorder and will not be here until the end of July. So I am $60 out of pocket, plus a lot of trouble for me, and I will be lucky if I get my replacement rod in less than 5 months which means that I basically don't have the rod for prime fishing season this year. Very disappointed.

Shimano warranty sucks. You have to ship back the entire rod at your own expenses before they would consider replacement. Bad business ethics.

Shimano NA gotta stop these stupid ugly strip tease videos. Even the videos of actual product releases barely shows anything. Always dark lighting with maybe a solid of 2 seconds to see the the actual thing. NA gotta step it up! Every other country gets better, more informative videos while we get these short stupid ones. They might as well be reels instead of videos at this point.
