Since I was caught in the "no downgrade" trap on Intel and Compaq boards, I made myself a habit of dumping the serial flashes before upgrading to have a fallback option. That might not always work after ME upgrades and such, but so far it already saved me from unusable boards more than once. I really wish there would be board manufacturers that treat their software quality and customers differently. Just like I really wish I could get quality dishwashers that are guaranteed not to break after two years and perhaps are even servicable. But thats probably not going to happen anytime soon.

This is why I only recommend MSI. You update the bios using a USB drive and can flash any version of the BIOS you want. ASUS has the dual BIOS which is nice in case something goes wrong, but the MSI will flash again even if something goes wrong since you do it manually.

This is good info
I was previously using this hacked stack of amifldrv + afulnx / safulnx to flash roms on a bunch of AMD boards.
And also using AMIBCP + UEFITool and hex editing to firmware to enable firmware options that should have been present ootb.
I needed Above 4G decoding support on my Asus X470 C7H board
Asus wouldn't & couldn't tell me why they can't enable it.
So I decided screw it - I'll just do it myself
Lo and behold the option was there all along.

some guys managed to modify bios for few mainboards working with xeon E5-2600-V3 and go full speed for all cores, the gain was 16-20% depending on mainboard. I am interested in modifying bios for mainboards lga3647 (especially supermicro which is sloppy slow) Do you have any idea if this is possible ? ( I bought in ebay few cheap 6138 as defect, but show to be good almoast all of them)
