Was looking for exactly this - a succinct yet thorough video that plays the difference in audio quality between different covers, and explains what the trade-offs are. Thanks!

I watched a few of these and your delivery is Pro - Thank you.
You use a plain Mic to benchmark and then comparative tests in a controlled environment and all measured, not guessed. Well done!

Amazing information. Thank you. Tests with graphs killed all other tests on YouTube.

Dead cat? You have to wonder which cat hater gave it that title. About the demonstration, this was a good one. The controlled environment allowed for consistency in testing. Thanks !!

Dead cat is perfect. I use it for recording at home and it has made a super difference on my rose PodMic

Spot on dude – just got a foam wind shield and dead cat for my Zoom H6. I'm heading out for a trip where I'll be doing recordings outdoors which was pretty much impossible before hand, and was wondering which to use in what scenario. I'll be defaulting to the foam, but if it's extra windy I'll switch to the dead cat. Thanks for the brief but in depth testing my man ✌

Good comparison! Foam and felt dampen the highs, but in many cases this is a good thing (for emphatised condensers ie.)

Great comparison, thank you! I just wish, the sample recordings were a little bit longer...

This is a great video. I ordered a Deadcat a few days ago because I *know* I need one for the stuff I film but I appreciate your testing. Subbed!

Very helpful. Is there much of a difference in brands of deadcats? I'm considering either the official rofe or a third party, which is obviously cheaper.

I wish I could hear the difference behind the voiceover. Do you have any videos while you're talking into the mic along with the fan?

Thank you for the excellent video that gets right to the point! Super helpful as we gear up to create more videos with our first mic! 😀

What you do is test a bunch of frequencies with the dead cat on and off and replace the loss in post. Completely reverses the effects.

Thanks for this it was a helpful comparison! I record music outdoors and have achieved decent results with foam, though if it's too windy I do have to postpone recording. I haven't tried deadcats yet but I'm concerned that would muddy the high end a bit too much for my tastes.
