Arc Welder: Electrical pops + Carbon Arc Lamp prototype

Recently I acquired a 105 amp 70-80 volt arc welder and I decided to test it by doing some experiments. Pins and steel wire melt and explode in less than a second due to the enormous wattage, and shorting it out with graphite rod electrodes makes an extremely bright electric arc lamp that illuminates my whole work-space, as well as turning the concrete below to glass. Although it is not really a practical light source anymore, it does illustrate the concept of the arc lamp (which was used in the days prior to the invention of the light bulb). Suggestions? Questions or comments? Please do not hesitate to tell me, I'm always looking for new ideas.
