15:01 to answer your question, this is not a rule you have to do, she probably does it so the game is harder, you can add rules and get rid of rules depending on how you want to play (the game is not suppose to stress you out so that's why some people change up the rules)

Btw you don’t have to wait until something dies to swap them out, she just kept the lower level Pokemon in the box which led up to all of the grinding. She also kept Groudon in the box because usually the legendary Pokémon give an unfair advantage and may lead to you having to rearrange some of the Pokémon on your team.

You absolutely should watch Jaiden's Platinum nuzlocke, and if you have the time her Heart Gold/Soul Silver Soul Link nuzlocke with Alpharad, as both are utterly fantastic videos <3
Also if nuzlocke animation videos appeal to you I'd seriously recommend 'Attempting My First Pokemon Nuzlocke' by Young Yong Tales, and 'How I Survived My First Pokémon Nuzlocke' by Alpharad as both are great fun (and Alpharad does a fair few other really fun Pokemon vids like his Mudkip and Piplup only runs and his second nuzlocke I'd also like to recommend but this is the only mostly animated one I think since he himself isn't an animator).

Also much empathy over not being able to do nuzlockes. I love watching peoples' videos of them but every time I've tried to do one myself I always end up cracking and either resetting every time a pokemon dies, or sorrow quitting the game shortly afterwards. I think I just prefer any added difficulty being in the enemies just being better (like in most pokemon fan made games) than in any way convincing myself that my precious pokemon could seriously be hurt~ XD

The idea of Robert streaming a Pokémon play through sounds fun! I recommend Scarlet/Violet. The game may be glitchy, but the story is amazing

Robert with Nuzlockes you can normally switch Pokémon out for others, and don’t have to die. Also if Robert were to do a Nuzlocke, a few bits of advice. Don’t go into the game blindly, make sure you know where all possible encounters are, and don’t make your first nuzlocke from gen 4 or gen 4 remakes. I did a nuzlocke last year in Shining Pearl, and the leveling made it easier, but the Elite Four is much harder than the old one. It has minimizing, baton pass, drifblim, stall milotics, and competitive battle items. I did Shining Pearl as my first nuzlocke I committed to, and, actually, I don’t know how but I only lost my Bronzong named Coin to Cynthia’s Milotic. But many poketubers I’ve seen die to the Elite Four. So don’t pick gen 4.

So basically the rules of a nuzlocke are. If a pokemon dies it faints, if your whole team faints the run is over, you can only catch the first pokemon on every route, and you can rotate your team around with new pokemon. But you can modify the rules to have the most fun
