Excellent advice. I have my Dad's USMC manual, "Guidebook for Marines", from his Korean War service in the early 50's. It has a pic of a soldier on the top of a hill as viewed from below and against the skyline. Below the pic it says, "an enemy down hill from this Marine has been given an excellent target ". Solid advice.

I remember years ago there was a show called "Special Ops Mission" featuring Rudy Reyes. In the show he would go into different locations and carry out training missions armed with an m4 and simunition, usually solo. Most of the time he was up against no more than a fire team.

Anyways, he explained this concept very well. By positioning yourself lower than the ridge as you have explained you can make a hasty retreat downhill but still not be too far from the top should you need to evade up and/or over the hill.

I just read the first comment and this is what I put up with. I have a son in law who believes that the government is going to keep him an my daughter and grandchildren safe. Thankfully my daughter is smart enough to know that he is an idiot as she calls him one to his face. And it makes him mad but it's true. He brags about hunting all the time but I never seen him get anything. I went out with him once and we were going elk hunting I was using my 54 caliber black powder rifle an he had his 308. An elk came out of a thicket about 120 yards away and I asked him if he wanted it he said go ahead. So I shot and knocked it down it stayed down another one came out of the same thicket. That's when he was taking aim he shot an missed it was only 75 yards away. I asked him if he needed glasses and he said no. I looked at his rifle and I looked through the scope i aimed at a tree and fired and missed. His rifle isn't even zeroed in.

Good pointers Jack, I do that when I'm hunting, keep yourself camouflaged and hidden, you definitely have the advantage. Situational awareness is key... Thanks for your informational videos!
