🦋 More info below! 🦋

In today's episode we look at how a healthy Phalaenopsis orchid should look like and how a sick Orchid looks like!

Roots on a healthy Phalaenopsis orchid should be silvery if dry and green if wet. They should be full of substance, not brown, mushy, or papery.

The stem and crown should also be green, not dark or dry. They are the main growth points of orchids and they should be in good order.

This is the best channel for orchids on my opinion. She gives instructions so clear!

I like to buy off of the reduced price table at Lowes the plants are a little stressed but usually respond to normal care and do great after a few weeks in ICU I love my orchards so glad I bought the first one. And I rescued one from my daughter in law she received as a gift it was in distress but is on the rebound

I was recently gifted and orchid after years of me telling myself to not even look at them as I was sure I would kill such a delicate beautiful plant. Well your channel has helped keep from feeling so intimated and I am excited to start my journey with this plant.

I have two orchids and for the first time the one bloomed! I had it for 2 yrs and nothing!. I didn't know what I was doing wrong but never gave up on her and all of a sudden I saw a trim growing out and up I screamed in joy. My husband thought I had lost my mind. Lol. Because of you I never gave up! I always look for the orchids that walmart is just about to throw away. And I don't care how bad they look I need to save them and now I have 3 and they have survived not just being unwanted but me who knew nothing about orchid. I love them!!!! And I look forward to seeing them every morning. AND THE BLOOMS THEY HAVE TO SHOW ME!

I am binge watching your beginners series. It’s a miracle I have not killed all of my orchids! I am going to try to save the reminding ones! Thanks so much!

Love your videos, they inspired me and my sister as well to have good thoughts about them, as so many die and are thrown away!…I just say if it’s too chilly where you sit and relax, your orchid won’t like it either and no straight sun !🥰🥰

Thank you so much for this series! I have always been terrible at keeping plants alive, and I didn't even try for years. Then I started watching your videos and decided to buy a phalaenopsis from the grocery store. She is so beautiful!

But she has some issues, and I've been needing a lot of your advice. She was in moss, and the plug from the nursery was sooo compacted that all the roots that had been in it were long dead. So I got rid of all of that, and put her back in with just the newer moss - it was more than enough to fill the pot once I just fluffed it up! Plus I cut some holes in the pot, so hopefully she will breathe better now.

Hopefully soon I can put her into a real slotted pot with some good repotme media. And if I keep her healthy maybe I will get more orchids. :)

Danny's always so nice and patient and covers everything we need to know and if we don't have it on this video we can watch it on another one of hers. People always ask after she does a video on watering how do I water my plant I just go grrrr! But Danny doesn't she's just patient and I realize some people's first language isn't English and that makes a difference. But I'm real worried about the day when the lady writes in and says I bought a phal today and now I'm regretting my purchase it has little babies on it and now not only am I responsible for the main plant but the babies too, how am I going to put them through school, college, doctor bills, I'm so worried I made a wrong decision. (haha)

I look forward to your video on saving the droopy orchid - mine looks exactly like it now :( Root rot and what I believe was stem rot at the base of the roots have essentially made it impossible for the poor orchid to hydrate. It's trying to push out some new roots from higher up the stem, but I have a feeling it just won't happen fast enough to save it.

Wonderful series thank you.
Sadly repotme won't ship to Canada. Very limited products on Amazon.ca be nice if they offered more soil choices there.

Can you do a video or videos on identifying different ailments by the signs/symptoms appearing on different species of orchids. I have 2 phals with chlorophyll pigmentation loss, but no sign of spider mites under a microscope, and 2 dendrobiums that developed dark pitting on their leaves. I think this issue with the dens might be fungal, as we've just had winter, so no air flow. But I'm not sure, and it would be good to have some sort of reference for identifying common issues in each of the main groups phals, dendrobiums, cattleya, oncidiums etc

Thanks Danny for this video. I am a newbie at orchids and this would help a lot as I have ordered two phals . Please could you tell that if Denphals which have flowered from the top will they ever again sprout leaves or they will develop new growth.
