Did i hear that correctly? So the average cost to take care of a homeless person is $80k per year. Yet the average household income in hawaii is less than that.. Does anyone else see a problem with this? Or am i missing something?

So, they can't fund the homeless center they spent our money to build, but they CAN manage to give themselves a raise.

It's a temporary solution, They did this in Maui, a few years later, the units were gone and people were right back on the street, homelessness has been an ongoing problem for decades, and a lot of the homeless have mental and substance abuse problems unless you address this issue the problem will always remain, unchanged.

Where in the treatment trajectory is there the integration of stable reentry into society: vocational rehabilitation, counseling services to address trauma informed interventions that may have sparked the exit out of society, family and interpersonal counseling, how to rebuild sense of community and contributing to society (sensitivities to cultural/spiritual/religious group safety net) to sustainably promote "wellness and resilience"? Momentum is exciting to see in piecing together where the puzzle pieces fit into the whole vision.

The Big Island Homeless Clinic should be a great example to follow.

Look under the bridge by airport plenty of homeless people living there

Should have drug and alcohol facilities under one roof.
Mental illness hospital for the mentally ill.
Halfway houses under supervision when you leave that
Tiny homes or whatever when you’re clean and stable when you leave half way
Vets to VA hospital
House less families and elderly need the real help!

I call this taking people their human being. Animals have more right than human beings in this time. This terrible fire will add many homeless people in the streets.

New Solution? So the state has another “New Solution” to handle the homeless problem? The state made portable homes out of old shipping containers on sand island and homeless don’t wanna go because they don’t wanna follow rules. How about shipping out the ones that don’t belong here back to the mainland and take care of our own people? The veterans would be perfect for those portable homes. Instead y’all (the state) built a disaster of a Rail System with one delay after another and now they wanna build a new stadium. Should be using that $$$ to take care of our people first
