Box and whisker plot | Descriptive statistics | Probability and Statistics | Khan Academy

Is this some kind of cute cat video? No! Box and whisker plots seek to explain data by showing a spread of all the data points in a sample. The "whiskers" are the two opposite ends of the data. This video is more fun than a handful of catnip.

As someone having to learn about whisker plots in a Master's degree applied to mineral exploration... learn your box plots, kids. If you're going to college and you're going to deal with numbers seriously, you'll be glad to know that kind of stuff.

It is possible to solve the question, what is the median, and what is the number that represents the lower quartile and the upper quartile in the question:34, 35, 36, 38, 40, 42, 42, 43, 45, 50, 55, 65

box and whiskers don't have to cover every data point. They sometimes ignore extreme outliers so you can't get the range by just looking at the whiskers.
