Awesome dude. I used to recommend another YTer to my apprentices, but stopped. You've completely taken it's place as my recommended channel. Keep going!

Very appreciative that you decided to be a YouTube creator. You must have seen a niche others were missing and fella you have filled it! Appreciate the detailed explanations without over complicating it. Keep it up, very informative. Like that you point out and reference the nec.

I have been an electrician for 35 years. Your videos are great. The most important question I ever ask. Can you teach me? And you do. Thank you.

Also, since you still have the plug attached, the skinnier spade side is the hot.

How I remember is: Funky white boy. The smooth side is the hot, the ridged side/funky side is the white.

I did not realize that was in the NEC. That's awesome!

These videos are so insanely informative. I'm not an electrician but I have done electrical work and it would have been a hell of a lot better if I knew all the things you're teaching in your videos beforehand.

If the plug is polarized then the wider blade is the neutral. If both blades are the same size then it doesn't matter and the plug will fit into an outlet either way. Some chords have ridges or lettering on one side. Other chords will have a vinal jacket and have a black & white wire inside the jacket.

Well done video, thanks for making it!

This is on the level of finding out that the toaster numbers represent minutes instead of heat level

The lamp shell is neutral so as to avoid being shocked when replacing the lamp.

The plug also shows which one is the hot. The small one is hot.

On that particular cord. The tiny ribs on the insulation is the neutral. Damn it just saw the rest of your video. Yup. Correct

Another clue if the end is still there: the hot spade is the smaller one.
