Russian energy company Gazprom says it will shut its Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline for three days, starting on August 31st. It says the closure is due to maintenance on the pipeline, which runs between Russia and Germany.
The unscheduled work could affect plans by European countries to fill their gas reserves before the winter. Gazprom said deliveries would resume after September 2, but only at 20 percent of the pipeline's full capacity. Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy said Moscow was using the pipeline as blackmail, and urged EU countries to end their reliance on Russian gas.

Russia is helping Europe to enforce the sanctions

Europe is sanctioning Russia at the highest level. What do you expect Russia to do? Europe is punishing Russia and Russia is responding in kind. Stop crying, you said you can do without Russian gas.

Didn't Zelensky say he wanted the whole EU to stop buying Russian energy. What is the problem here?

Where is Ursula. Didn't she say Europe has agreed deals with other countries for gas supplies. Oh wait she was just saying that for optics. Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Russia helping Europe to become less reliant on Russian gas, all at the expense of revenue for Russia.
I'm impressed at the sacrifice Russia is making to help Europe.

Every time they use the word "blackmail" i just cringe. We have sanctioned almost everything Russian, for a long time even their food exports to Africa where stopped. Why is that not blackmail?

Sanctions vs. sanctions. It was EU that started pressing upon Russia.

I'm so surprised Germany is being blackmailed in exactly the way it was told it would be blackmailed many years ago.

Is it blackmail? or retaliation over sanctions placed? or is it that only US and EU can put sanctions?

So you are arming its enemies, have applied seven packages of sanctions, have insulted ist leaders with a rude and childish language never heard before in international diplomatic relationships, and you're are seriously whining that Russia uses its gas as a weapon? Well, it's an extraordinary mild response, in my opinion. You can expect more in the future, I guess.

if dollar can be used as blackmail why not gas?

so laughable. i guess blackmailing is morally more abhorrible than sanctions.
