That’s great! I have a Lark trailer with solar on it also. And I got it in Florida but towed it back to Washington. I installed the panels in Florida. Thanks for sharing.

You can add relay which is connecting car charging and disconnecting solar in same time, and also some voltage relay which is activated when voltage drops.

HI. Thanks for the clear and informative video. I bought a camper van that already had the alternator connected to the RV deep cycle battery in what appears to be a complicated way. There is a junction box with what appear to be fuses and some kind of switcher that clicks on and off sometimes. Now I've added a 350watt solar panel and a charge controller (Coleman 30A) that doesn't have a 'load' connection, only panels and battery. I hooked it up to the battery, then the panels as advised. Is there any danger in having both the alternator and the solar panels connected to the battery at the same time, although not through the charge controller? Thanks.

Amperage is PULLED by load, not pushed by the alternator. The limit on how much amperage you can pull is dictated by the length and guage of the connecting cable and any fuse. The car battery is capable of suppling hundreds of amps if the load PULLS it

Hmm, I would invest in a small engine and a separate alternator so as to not risk your truck . That would be a great backup video !

That's amazing brother make a video on how you did this set up step by step on wiring and explanation. Great video keep them coming!!

Don't hook it up to your solar inputs. You run it to your ignition, or direct to the car battery, to your auxiliary batteries. The power only flows through the charge controller one way. It works like a dc to dc charger. Alternator to your battery. Then from your ignition to the charge controller battery port. Then to your auxiliary batteries. I did a similar build for my overlanding/hunting truck.

Could I just get a 4 terminal switch that (switches) the positive and negative from the solar over to the alternator? This would be right in front of the s. charge controller power input. Or not?

I have a portable generator that has a dc jack thats rated at 100w, ive measured the output and its around 15vdc unregulated. Could i hook that up to my pwm charge controller to have that control the charging process on my battery? My pwm is a 30a model renogy. Thanks!

Thanks for your video. What is the total amount of solar coming 600 watts?

How many ah are ya battiers in the bank and how long will they power the AC with no solar input? Also how many amps does the AC draw? love this etup tho👌

Great video man, I have a ? How could I do exactly this temporarily and get more amps to my battery, I have a 30 amp mppt charge controler with the mt50 remote, an was thinking of a similar thing. Using a truck battery on ground that is hooked to charge controler, will be getting a lifpo4 soon will this allow more amps into it, thanks

Hey cool video question why are u only getting 5 amps from the car battery into the charge controller when most car alternators put out 100 amps ? I run a 1000 watt inverter on my car all the time just about maxed out. So what’s the difference would u need to hook to alternator up directly to the charge controller to get more ? Or is your cable size ? Cheers

Most car alternators are eighty amps The small one you can usually get them up to about a 130 120. If you spend a little more money put some money on your wires and get way more amperage

Couldn’t you do the same thing with the car off and if you have a small power inverter hooked up to the car battery system it would warn you when it’s getting super low then you could then turn the car on to jumpstart the system again

Hi AtlanticDrain, nice video. I have a question. Is it safe to connect a 300W inverter to a 20A PWM solar charge controller. I have a setup (100AH, 12V battery, 300W Inverter, 360W panel) where I connect LCD TV (130W), set top box (20W), 12V DC lamp, and occasionally connect laptop and phones for charging. I have been connecting the Inverter directly to the battery but I am always getting tempted to connecting the inverter to the solar charge controller DC output terminals.

Hi. Nice lectionary
My question is how to connect parallel the solar panel and the generator from the car... it will go only manually?
Thanks
Have a nice day.
Thanks for your answer. BR

Hello, I was just wondering whether it would be possible to purchase this and drive the automobile alternator connected to a high-rpm, 220v AC motor. I have a 5kva MPPT inverter, but I don't want to use a solar panel. What do you think of it?
