36 Weeks Pregnant - What to Expect
Показать описание
Transcript:
At week 36, your baby measures about 18 to 19 inches, the length of a bunch of kale, and weighs in at around 6 pounds, equivalent to a large personal watermelon. Though growing will keep going, it begins to slow down now, a very good thing when you consider baby will be attempting to exit your womb through the narrow alley of your birth canal, a tight squeeze for those sweet cheeks no matter what.
Right now, most of baby's systems are pretty much a go, fully loaded and equipped for life on the outside. Though the digestive system is ready to roll too, it really hasn't gotten a workout yet. Remember, up until this point, your baby's nutrition has been arriving via the umbilical cord, no digestion necessary, but that's soon to change. As soon as baby takes a suckle at the breast or a bottle, that digestive system will be jump-started and those diapers will start filling, probably as fast as you can change them.
In your last month of pregnancy symptoms, you'll still have plenty of the same old, same old, and maybe more of the same too. More swelling, more trouble sleeping, more aches and pains, more heartburn.
Something else you may find stepping up are those Braxton Hicks contractions. These practice contractions can be more intense if you've already popped out a baby or two, but they usually subside with a glass of water and a change of position. Do check with your provider if you're not sure if they're the real deal.
