Ive been doing electric strings on acoustics for years. Its great for beginners or helping to build the calluses on your fingers and lets you play longer before your finger tips hurt.

This is great because he’s not one of those players who overdoes it with the slaps and taps and harmonics. Like he’s still doing a lot here but it’s actually pleasant sounding.

The other option is to detune your regular strings half a step down. This makes them softer on the fingers and easier to bend. This guy is an amazing player!

Back when I played A LOT, I would buy electric guitar strings by the case. When the rare situation arose that I needed to restring my acoustic and didn't have any acoustic strings around, I tried putting on the strings that I had purchased for my electric guitars. They sounded great and were easier on the fingers. That was about 42 years ago. I never buy acoustic stings now.

Im pretty sure he could even put violin strings on a guitar and it would still sound nice

It's a brighter sound than the warmer sounding bronze strings, but it still sounds nice. It just depends on the effect you want.

An acoustic with a maple fretboard is something I haven't seen before. Great playing, you sound amazing! Keep it up!

I tried electric strings once, but almost died from the shock.⚡️

This is what my father did when I was a kid so that me and my brother would stop giving up after our fingers would hurt. I grew to the guitar until my teenage years and I asked my dad what he did and he simply said that he replaced the strings with electric strings. Thanks dad, if it weren't for that neat trick you did back then. I'd not be playing a guitar rn.

I think my favorite part of this...it seemed like the progression could not have gone any other way. Every following note was exactly what it needed to be to make the piece a full circle of Beauty! The last note bleeds into the first, the full circle ending. The circle is almost everything from a healthy cell in ANYTHING, to wheels on the vehicles and a break from it all in the perfect pieces of art we are lucky enough to have coming from still, so many!!!
Thank you, that was beautiful and moving.

My acoustic has a magnetic sound hole pickup. I follow the advice given for other acoustics with sound hole pickups, and use electric guitar strings. It works out great to have the same strings on all of my guitars. Even my 12 string electric has the same brand and gauge as my six strings.

Been doing this for years on my ragitty guitar because strings were high on the fretboard. It was easier on my fingers altho the sounds were reduced. Helped me learn a lot of songs.

Got a feeling this guy is going to make anything sound good regardless of strings

My buddies used to put Fender 150 strings on their Yamaha FG150s when we jammed in the hootch in Vietnam. Got me to buy one....ended up playing it for the next 50 years--still do. It's got better strings on it now, since I remember them playing great but sounding pretty bad--but they were all kindsa fun!

That's genius. The sound is so pure.

I've always put electric gauge 10 elixirs on my acoustics, love the tone, and play, well, like an electric! Buttery smooth. Idk why you _wouldn't_ ! Not even because bending is easier or anything, it just makes playing more comfortable, especially if you're primarily an electric player as I think most guitar players probably are (as in, electric is way more popular than acoustic these days, on average)

Sounds so rich and beautiful. Not that surprises anyone who listens to you, but it's still very impressive.

I've read that this is actually a common practice among pro guitarists. Especially for those who tend to use wider string bends.

My acoustic 6 stings has had electric string for over 10 years. Being an older lady, I got school do to the shift could I continue playing, and it really works. I've strongly suggested to other women and my 83 year old brother in-lay. Just change them out one string per day for 6 weeks, let the neck adjust. I do believe my guitar when and relaxed when that last 600 lb pressure got released. There' been no problems, at all. And I can continue to play.
