The Saint of Killers kills God, and then takes his throne. Not sure what happens afterwards, but the comic books say he just wants to rest.

I just realised Jesse tried to spare God. He told him not to go back to heaven and just stay on Earth having fun. He knew the Saint was waiting for him.

I can't believe they actually stuck the landing. I never thought in a million years Standards & Practices would let them keep the original ending. Although, in the comics, God died like a wuss, practically begging to be spared.

I'll give this show full credit for one thing, they did a fantastic job with the Saint of Killers.

The saint of killers, a draw that's faster than GOD HIMSELF

I absolutly loved the shadow work in this show so many scenes actually looked like comic panels because of how good the shadow effects were

After all these years, all the pain and suffering he went through, now he can finally rest. No god, no devil, this man has achieved true peace after killing BOTH. There's something poetic about that

*Needless to say, when Homelander found his way to Heaven, it didn't end very well for him.*

*His last words were as follows*

"...Is god a cowbo-"

I loved the twist of the saints character dev in the 4th season.
[SPOILER] God tricking him into trying to kill the preacher and forget his true goal, revenge for his family. Only to mislead god and finally blow his head out. Wholesome ending

I have a theory on why this version of “God” is able to be killed by the saint. The show seems to play into the idea that the universe in its entirety is the “body of God”. So this version of God is more like a projection, similar to Pennywise and the Deadlights in the Steven king novel IT.

The Saint never became God because he didn’t care to be one, otherwise the world would be in complete chaos. Aside from gloating about his revenge, It’s more likely that he guards the throne now to prevent another god like figure from ruling over the universe.

In the show Lucifer the actor who plays the saint plays a priest

This was an amazing series and I am so glad that the Saint got his happy ending. But the again, I am gutted that it's all over. It has been one crazy ride that I will never forget

Scenes like this make me wonder if 'God' in Preacher is really just the Demiurge. We see that 'God' creates, but he's neither omnipotent nor omniscient, and he has a pretty nasty attitude on top of it. He's closer to the conception of the Greek/Gnostic creator-god, the material tinkerer, rather than to anything recalling the Supreme Being.
