Preacher S04E10 - Jesse asks God questions

Jesse asks some questions, and God doesn't really give anything interesting, he seems to only want his Love, although he has bitten out Jesse's eye, sounds like a stupid thing.. This God seems schizophrenic. Would you love a God who caused you so much misery and suffering? of course not.

god is not some fairy godmother saying yes or no ..god is all of us being good to each other ..that is god ..its here on earth now in us ..its the eternal flame of kindness ...its virtual hugs to all xx

You don't ask for love. People either have it for you or they don't. I'll take real hate over fake love any day.

Jesse Custer was a good man at heart yet he struggled with the darkness in his heart. Same as all of us have to every single day. It was pleasing to see him die in peace as a loving father and husband.

Like the Emperor in Warhammer 40k he may have "loved" humanity but he didn't understand them. So powerful, and yet so far removed from limitation for so long that he quite simply doesn't know what right/wrong is. A dark irony to this scene though is that Jesse is still a terrible person despite God also being egotistical.

Pulled on my heartstrings there

Ever notice whenever this "God" is having expressions of love, empathy, or noble virtue he does so while shaking his head "no?" He nods "yes" when he saying suffering is a teacher though. Such a classic narcassist. Think they should have kept the dog suit on him though. More mystique that way.

I'm cracking up at some of the comments. I can't help but feel that some never watched the show, are religious and think this puts God in a good light. That creation for the sake of being loved, is good. Holy Shit. Pun Intended.

No life on other planets seems like an AWFUL waste of space.

Maybe it's up to us to do the EVE Online approach and populate the rest of the galaxy.

This show tackles an image of God that I've always held tightly when I was forced through Christian bible study as a kid.
I viewed it as God is no better than a child yearning for praise and love.
He essentially asks you to worship hip in exchange for favors and good fortune. That always rang more like a devil to me than a God. Like a flawed human, rather than a God.
A true God is both certain of his worth and doesn't need others validation or worship.
This is a message I wish that till this day I could convey to my Christian parents but it's no use, they're brainwashed by this idea that I was born of divine miracles etc etc.

I think that I'm the only one who watched this show who feels pity for this God, I mean if you think about it he spend an eternity alone and in pain, he already suffered more pain than he ever caused, and that's why the Saint of killers killed him without torturing him, he knew god wasn't worth torturing since he is in a way "sin free" because he already paid for his actions before committing them, so ironically this God is "pure" while being the bad guy and the one who is responsible for all pain in existence

In sects of Gnosticism, it is believed that the god of the material world is stupid, false and cruel. He hides the fact that there are other gods from us and demands to be worshipped and loved out of an addictive need for it.

Also Wish Jessie would use the genesis power to tell God to give his eye back

I rewatch again and so enjoy, so much dumb logic for an creator, such as:
- Bite off Jesse eye, no regenerate his eye, but still try to manipulate Jesse and others people's to love him, it is impossible
- In a scene, he killed an guard to feed blood to Casidy brutally
- Refused Jesse prayers, while he pray hard, but forced Jesse to say love back, another impossible task for Jesse
- Torture people's with cancers, and still force people's to love him
- Gave people's diseases and think it is fun and joy for them
- Gave people's diseases and think it teaching them, or they just dead and learn nothing
- Gave people's diseases and force them to ask for healing, what is the point of that???
> What an stupid things and pure evil things to do at an creator

I'm a devout Bible believing Christian, and I also understand this is just a show. It's just meant to be entertaining and not taken seriously, so we should just enjoy the twists and turns, and frankly how ridiculous the story is. I don't think the writer was trying to make any kind of point, but experiment with a story that's different than what we've seen before. Don't get too serious guys, its just a show.

The whole series in one exact scene of 3:40, without any context or any previous or after, it's all there.

"Now it's your turn to say it back... say you love me."
...Yep... that sounds god to me, and I would answer him... "You know what god? I always believe there's a purpose for creating my middle finger. :)"

Well. This version of God is only slightly better'n the one in some of the earlier runs of Hellblazer... That one was messed up.
