I asked my Grandmother about the great depression of the 1930's. She said, we didn't have any money before the depression, so didn't make much difference to us. We had a farm, mules to do the plowing, a milk cow. We grew all the food we ate, and knew how to hunt. People in the city had a hard time, but we did OK.

A while back, my therapist asked me if I ever felt overcome with feelings of "Impending Doom"... "Who doesn't?", was my reply. He asked me what I did to cope with such feelings... What works best for me is: whenever I feel helpless, or at the mercy of the very real possibility of the cataclysmic downfall of Civilization, I seek out, and obtain educational material pertaining to self sufficiency, off-grid living, and the identification of wild edible and medicinal plants for foraging. Knowledge is Power.

Never a disappointing video from After Skool. This one accurately portrays humanity I think. It's difficult for us to see past our bloated egos.

"We ceased to nurture spirit, we ceased to love and tend the earth and we no longer regarded the universe with reverent awe and wonder!" A truly heart-wrenching phrase. Indeed what have we done! 😟

I've recently took up gardening and teaching myself how to farm due to the lockdowns. This video reinforces my decision and exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you!

During my time in (rural) Afghanistan I had the utmost respect for the people there and their ability to live in such a rudementary way. In such a harsh environment they had flourishing agriculture and basic yet effective irrigation systems. I had the pleasure of watching them build massive structures from mere dirt. The nomadic Kuchi tribe was even more impressive. If the s**t ever hits the fan these people will have no trouble surviving.

Hunter gatherers would survive. The people in the deserts, the people in the Amazon rain forest, the ones who are already living a "survivor" lifestyle

Living in a rural area, i do the same as my grandfather and my father. I keep 6 months worth of food for my family stored. Not necessarily because of an economic collapse, although its looking more and more likely. But because winter here can be brutal and you always prepare for the worst. Its just how i was raised and it makes sense to me so i continue to do things the way my grandparents and parents had taught me.

My dad was born in 1931 into depression times in Jamaica. He was youngest of six siblings. His Parents had a small farm which had chickens and a cow and some fruit trees. My grandmother used to make new clothes out of old clothes. They knew how to look after themselves.

Perhaps this is the time to respect each other's individual rights and accept that the choices each individual makes can have positive or negative consequences which they are responsible for.
