What is PRP and is it required after hair transplantation? PRP or platelet rich plasma are also done in another new technique called as GFC or growth factor concentrate are different types of the same procedure . Here we are taking a small quantity of your blood extracting platelet derived growth factors from these which is injected into your recipient area to have a good growth of hair. PRP is creating a natural healthy medium during transplantation which will help in reducing the stress on the hair follicles during surgery because of which the survival of the grafts will be better, the growth of the hair will be good. These hair follicles which are outside the body for a short duration of time during surgery will have a healthy medium when they are transplanted. So at our Clinic during hair transplantation we have been using PRP since many years and we are seeing wonderful results of hair growth which starts quite early and they have good recovery on the donor area as well as the recipient area. So PRP it will help in improving your existing hairs as well as your transplanted hairs . But as far as hair transplant only is concerned PRP will be beneficial when it is done on the day of transplantation. Further sessions we suggest to do once in a month or once in 1 and a half month which may or may not be required. It is not mandatory to do PRP after doing hair transplantation. But if you do it it will be helpful for your existing hairs. Doesn't mean if you miss PRP sessions hair transplant results is going to be bad transplanted hairs will surely grow. If you are going to follow the care which is given at our Clinic PRP will be beneficial. If you do it for your existing hairs and you also need to take care of your existing heads. So whatever is remaining let us say you have done hair transplant in the front area the back of the scalp the top crown area may gradually get bald with time 2 years or 3 years 5 years. So we suggest to retain these hair so that you don't get new bald patches on the baldness prone area and if you have to go for another transplantation surgery will be done to extract and transplant this. So ideally we want to save your hairs as much as possible for a longer period of time so you may not require multiple surgeries. PRP is helpful if you're doing it around 6 to 8 sessions. We suggest to do PRP in 4 to 6 weeks interval. However it is very safe procedure it is done from your own blood and there is no downtime. Minimal pain may be there we are using local anesthesia at our Clinic to numb the skin which will fade off in 1 to two hours and you can go back to your daily activities.
