MOZA Racing Wheels - My First Impression

As you guys requested here is Moza video! Moza was so nice to send me their base and two of their wheels (I only had to pay for import tax) for test.
My channel is not channel for reviews, I dont want it to become one, I like to test things, but there are way better people doing proper in depth reviews.
So my video is simple testing the base and wheel and giving my feedback how it feels to me. So please dont be rushing with things like "he hates it" or "loves it too much". I do these videos with personal use and my own taste! :)

There were for sure some positives and also some negatives.
R9 Base was most impressing to me, connection rod and base itself gave really good strength feedback to me. Installation was simple even though I had issue with usb and had to buy usb hub, but it might be my own issue, I dont know how to tell.
But overall I think tiny little tweaks and the base would be top job.

GS wheel I think is pretty good, buttons are most impressive and nice RGB, compare to what I use now (Fanatec V2.5) I think buttons were better quality but overall wheel felt a bit cheaper for way higher price as being sold, but it might be personal taste. For the price with tax and shipping I can almost get Simucube wheel or almost Gomez if I pay a bit more.
So here for me my V2.5 is still a winner when I look at price/quality/look.

CS wheel I dont like too much. Buttons again are well done, but wheel itself looks quite cheap and leather/rubber or whatever its made of doesnt feel very nice to me (again personal taste).
I was always told Moza is cheap solution, but after checking prices and tax and shipping I was a bit shocked its actually pretty expensive. But nevertheless I would say company has good simracing future ahead of them! :)

If you wanna know if I would swap my csl dd to moza r9. Probably not, its all overall personal taste. But its getting very close I think Moza is improving more and more!

I'm using a Moza R9 and GS wheel, coming from a t300rs its a huge difference. No problems so far, main reason for Moza was the fact it had quick delivery while fanatec ones are almost always sold out

I love this guy, he’s so happy and it’s honestly so good to see

I sold my CSL DD for an R9 setup some weeks ago, something I'm doing as a 'reviewer' to check that people are getting as good a device as they would with Fanatec - my experience so far has been really good.

Agree 100% with Jardier, I Had the Csl DD but I wasn't happy with that. So I changed for Moza few weeks ago, and for me it really feels better. The only only thing missing was the ability to change the settings on the wheel, especially coming from Fanatec, you can do with on smart phone but NO. I actually discovered that there are some buttons combinations allowing to do that but still not easy like Fanatec. I like the settings possibilities on Moza and I think there's a room for really improvements there. It runs warmer but so far no problems to this moment. I was afraid of those noises but after look for the size of the thing and the forces that it outputs I can understand. My wife for example can't hear those noises even getting close. Shifters are crazy loud without the rubber 😳. Regrets? Not at all, durability will tell us.

Good an honest quick review Jardier! Bit crap of Moza to send out parts for review that has not passed a proper QC..

Good impressions video, thanks. I find it difficult to prefer this over CSL DD 8nm and the whole Fanatec ecosystem. The base itself seems very impressive for the initial price but shipping and taxes was a good point.

Nice intro with the camera runs and the background music is good taste.

Dont forget though that the round wheel you have is the Budget friendly wheel. So cheaper materials have been used.

Great Video Jards! Little Bird told me they are in the process of making console compatible. Only detail I know about it, but that is exciting!

The default settings on the R9 aren't great but with some fine tuning in the settings menu you can make it fantastic. Especially for the price👌👍

I quite like it, its my first DD and it made sense in the UK because of retailers whereas Fanatec had the same shipping issues for me. Pit-house is available via a phone app as well. Elephant in the room, they (MOZA) sent somebody with nearly 100k followers a damaged/faulty wheel. Own goal MOZA. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts after streaming with it. 👍

The R9 is awesome, got mine for £380, got a Kyostar QR hub for £30 and bolted my Sparco wheel straight to it, once you dial the settings in for each game / car the base really comes to life.

Btw the R9 is fanless, it will get hot under heavy use but thats completely normal.

One thing to consider is MOZA ships to any continent; with Fanatec you’re restricted to Euro;US and Canada, Australia and some countries of Asia .

I can’t buy directly from fanatec; I have to use a third party service to buy it from them and then ship it to my country since we don’t have resellers here. That increases the prices a lot.

Right now there is limited stock on fanatec website; Moza is ready to ship.

Great review Jardier. The ffb is completely tuneable in the software. The noise you hear over curbs is just high frequency ffb and is again tuneable in the software. The retail network is growing constantly and they now have a warehouse in the USA. Shame about that rotary nib tho.

Check the regional resellers for shipping, they have MUCH better shipping rates than from MOZA.

I've had my Moza R9 set up running a week now and I'm stoked with it. Just take the time to get it set up as the default profiles aren't great, there's plenty of youtube content to help with this.

okay him pronouncing subwoofer as "soobwoofer" is extra reason he's the wholesome man we need

For me Fanatec is still the way to go, everything seems so much more user friendly and also the whole ecosystem is a major plus. But it’s a good thing that there are other players getting into this market, keeps everyone sharp

why are we still surprised that DD bases are releasing one after the other and they are generally good? i mean every DD has the same benefit which is the feedback is fed directly to the wheel so every DD will feel pretty quick and responsive, the signal coming from the game never changes either, its always the same, when you hit a rumble strip its the same signal sent at the same frequency and the differences you feel are really down to the motors characteristics so some will be slightly sharper, some will be a little dull or dampened etc but ALL of them have the ability to be tuned very very similar in my experience, having a DD1 and a simucube 2 pro side by side i can say for sure that the actual FFB effects are VERY similar, the difference comes in the shape of motor smoothness and speed, the simucube is simply smoother to turn and can be tuned to respond ever so slightly quicker, on top of the much superior QR that makes it a better product, fanatec has a solid software package but it still lacks what i would call game changing software options like a static force reduction filter which is just exceptionally useful, how have they not just straight copied it yet i dont know, you can get all the details without the wheel being too heavy mid corner.

anyway without rambling about that comparison i think fanatec have some serious competition in moza and simagic, its sheer brand name popularity keeping them on top because i think ALL of the latest lower priced DD's outclass fanatec's podium lineup, moza and simagic bases use smoother servo motors and far better quick releases, i dont care if they lack the outright power or not if i turn the wheel and its not smooth that immediately takes me out of the immersion, no car on the planet has notchy steering and as subtle as it is with fanatec its there, the excuse its hard to notice when driving is not an excuse im happy with when spending this kind of money, its suppose to be the best of the best and simply does not feel like a real life car, the DD1/2 are really needing a hardware update in my opinion to keep up as harsh as that is. Moza and simagic only have to keep pushing their marketing angle, get their software in order and more fully featured and they might be real trouble for fanatec.
