On what day did Jesus die and rise again?

In the Creed we say that Jesus rose on the third day, but if Jesus died on a Friday and rose on a Sunday, isn't that just two days?

In this video I explain the math behind the Resurrection and why St. Paul and even Jesus himself referenced the three days in the tomb between his death and Resurrection.

These three days, of course, are the reason we celebrate the Paschal Triduum on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday.

According to Jewish calendar, Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread, He had to die on a Wednesday.

Matthew 12:40 says 3 days and 3 NIGHTS -- your explanation does not account for a 3rd night.

Inthe Torah, God gave the Jews specific information to follow. The Passover Week was a yearly Feast..one of seven Feasts that they kept yearly.

During the Passover Week there were two Sabbaths, the regular Saturday or 7th day Sabbath, and a High Sabbath which fell on the Thursday or the 5th day.

On the Wednesday or the 4th day, a lamb was slain, and the blood was taken into the Holy of Holies and sprinkled onto the Book of Law, and the Mercy Seat; where God resided. This blood sacrifice was used to take the sins of Israel away.

The following day was Thursday the 5th day, the High Sabbath, then Friday the 6th day, and then Saturday the 7th day or weekly Sabbath.

In the Gospels the Jews were mocking Jesus and asked to see a sign, after he had already done thousands of signs.

Jesus said, I'll give you the sign of Jonah, as he was in the belly of the big fish, for THREE NIGHTS AND THREE DAYS, so shall the son of man be in the heart of the earth for THREE NIGHTS AND THREE DAYS. Jesus was explicit about THREE NIGHTS AND THREE DAYS.

If Jesus died on a Friday at 3pm and the Sabbath stars at 6pm they had just a couple of hours to put him in the tomb, because it would be a curse to have anyone crucified still on the cross during the Sabbath.

So from Friday 6pm to Saturday 6pm is one day. From Saturday 6pm to Sunday 6pm are two days..so where is the third day? It doesn't work out

But, if Jesus died and entombed on Wednesday, now there are three days before the first day of the week when Mary went to the tomb..

The Torah teaches about the two Sbbath Passover Week, and Jesus said, three nights and three days in the earth.. and there you go.. to God be the Glory

It was three days and three nights. Don't look to traditions, go to Genesis 1 for a full understanding of what a day is. Jesus was crucified on Wednesday and buried before sunset which started the beginning of Thursday. According to Scripture a day is evening to evening.

Jesus himself gave the sign of Jonah, saying he would be in the earth "three days and three nights." I think it matters when Jesus says it.

Jesus said that he will be in the grave for 3 days and 3 nights just as Jonna was in the sea monster for 3 days and 3 nights. Could someone please explain to me where's the missing 3rd night?!

Lets make it Simpler. Jesus was crucified on a Wednesday, before the High Sabbath (Joh 19:31), of the 1st day of Unleavened Bread, on Thursday.
Women bought the spices on Friday (MK 16:1), resting on the regular sabbath of Saturday.
Jesus rose just before Sunday, while it was still dark.
All this adds up to 3 days and 3 nights

You have to figure out what day the Sabbath was on. They had to get Jesus down from the cross BEFORE Sabbath started which was at 6pm. Jesus died at 3pm on what day then?
