FINALLY getting into Ronnie James Dio! Hope you all enjoy this one <3

This is the guy that both Rob Halford of Judas Priest and Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden looked up to in terms of singing. All three of them are widely considered to be the greatest metal vocalists of all time,

RJD is the greatest metal singer of all time🤘🏽
No two performances were ever the same. Children Of The Sea should be next.

Ronnie. Nobody can imitate him, so unique. RIP

I must have seen Ronnie about 10 times. Good comparison with Freddie. Ronnie had such vocal control on less “vociferous” numbers. To me he was the best male rock vocalist ever… but it’s a close call between him and Freddie. Make sure you check him out with Rainbow. Stargazer, Light in the Black or Gates of Babylon. R.I.P. Ronnie. He would have been 80 this month.

If you are digging Ronnie's voice then you have to do "Stargazer" or "Gates of Babylon" by Rainbow. Dio is just incredible on those! The musicianship is pretty damn phenomenal too :)

“The world is full of kings and queens, who blind your eyes and steal your dreams, it’s heaven and hell” No truer words were ever sung.RIP Ronnie James

I'm so Ronnie James Dio is probably one of the most recognized voices in metal. Perhaps the only true contender to Rob Halford as far as vocal range and capacity went. This song is legendary.

IT'S ABOUT TIME DIO TIME LOL
The metal voice of the decades. From 1970 ish his incredible voice is so recognisable. If you haven't done STARGAZER then please do. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Rob, Bruce and Ronnie are the blueprint of metal vocalists.
"The sign of the Southern Cross", "Children of the sea" and "Falling off the edge of the World" are my favorites of Ronnie with Sabbath.
His Rainbow career is also legendary with songs that paved the way for Heavy Metal ("Stargazer, " "Kill the king, " "Man on the silver mountain", "Gates of Babylon" to name a few)

Oh Aileen…. When you mentioned that Ronnie had something operatic about his sound Stargazer from Rainbow instantly came to mind…. You just have to give him a listen there

Stargazer by Rainbow (Ronnie's band before Sabbath) is incredible vocally and Lonely is the word from the heaven and hell album is another great track

Dio means God in Italian and to me, Ronnie was the vocal god of Metal music. RIP Ronnie, you are missed but not forgotten.

They wrote this album in L.A. and when they wrote this song they shopped it for reactions by taking it to the girls in local strip clubs. Needless to say they loved it-how could they resist that bass line?

The song did evolve over the years. The Dio fronted version of Sabbath rebranded themselves Heaven & Hell because Tony and Geezer were working with Ozzy again at the same time and they had to differentiate between the two projects. The 2007 Radio City Music Hall set was the definitive version but the best one to watch was the Wacken set on the Neon Nights DVD-one of the last times they performed it live and we have it filmed 👍

Don't forget 'Neon Knights"! The first song of the first Black Sabbath recording with Ronnie on vocals. It's always been my favorite 🤟

Dehumanizer was, for me, the most criminally underrated album that Sabbath ever did, and a big reason I loved it so much was because Dio returned for it. I is, in my opinion, the absolute standout track, but After All (The Dead), Time Machine, Letters Ftrom Earth and the opener, Computer God, are all also well worth a listen.

Fun fact: It's Ronnie James Dio that made 🤘 the hand gesture popular for metal. There's a great tribute from Bruce Dickinson on tour a few days after Dio's death that he sat down on one of the stage monitors and put up his hand in the horns, and says something along the lines of (heavily paraphrased) "This is the only time you'll ever see me do this, but this gesture? This is Dio's doing, and it just shows how much he meant to us all."

This is Black Sabbaths first album without Ozzy, and Dios first album with them.I love both of them and it's hard to compare because it's a totally different sound.Saw an interview with Dio where he was talking about the Heaven and Hell tour and how the diehard Ozzy fans would give him the middle finger, and he was getting booed, that had to be hard for someone with so much talent and prior material with Rainbow.Eventually she will probably hear Stargazer from Rainbow and hear how amazing he was before Sabbath.

Yes, Dio had a solo career with killer catalog, I saw him back mid 80's Holy Driver Tour, I can still remember his stage set up it was epic
