Nope, this is him and his band. The lead singer is an incredible singer called Gregg Rolie. other great Santana songs, Oye Como Va, Evil Ways, Winning, Maria, Maria, . Santana typically used a featured vocalist and took care of the music. He is probably my favorite lead guitarist ever! Just brilliant!

Great pick guys. Everyone is right. Santana doesn't sing vocals. He sings with his guitar. Great pick.

Another great song choice you guys - but Carlos is not singing on this, he really just does his 'singing' with the guitar. The vocals are by Gregg Rolie, who was the lead vocalist for Santana for the first 5-6 years. Always awesome to hang out with you, peace and love from Canada!

This song is over 50 years old. I went to see Santana 2 weeks ago at The House of Blues here in Las Vegas and he is still incredible at 74 years old. He is the man on guitar.

Carlos Santana is undoubtedly one of the greatest guitar players of all time! He played at Woodstock in 1969 so he’s been rockin for over 50 years!!!!

Sorry guys, not Carlos singing 😂.
Fun fact - the singer is keyboardist Gregg Rollie who left Santana’s band to co-found Journey. Journey was a huge band in the late seventies and early eighties. But Gregg left them right after their first huge album and retired for several years. 🤷🏻‍♂️. He’s in the RRHOF twice with Santana and Journey, I believe. This may be a cover but this is the version that captured everyone’s imagination.

Something you young uns should remember is how exotic this sounded in 1969, 70, 71. We didn't have the whole world's music at our fingertips, so this amazing brew of latin/cuban/blues/rock was so hot, so exotic then, for something that was popular. The first 3 Santana albums were a perfect mixture of accessible and new. Cool band, great guitarist. Percussion section was always unreal, had some legendary people in it. Thanks

This song was originally written by Peter Greene, and recorded by Fleetwood Mac. Santana did an amazing job on the cover, with Gregg Rollie singing.

The singer is actually Gregg Rolie, the keyboard player/lead vocalist in the early eras of the Santana Band. The band later split in the time of Santana's spiritual awakening with
Gregg Rolie and Neal Schon leaving to form the group Journey. Gregg Rolie later came back and played again with Santana. The song 'Black Magic Woman was an early Peter Green Fleetwood Mac hit in England. Thanks for your input ROB SQUAD

I saw Santana, live, in 1981. He opened for the Rolling Stones in Pontiac MI. I am one of the biggest Rolling Stones fans around, but on that day, 40 years ago, Santana blew the Stones away. It wasn't even close. Santana was epic.

Oye Como Va is a must play, originally performed by Tito Puente.

Carlos is the Man. I have fortunate enough to see him, several times in the 90's at Jones beach Theater on Long Island, NY. Last time was front row, and he came to shake my buddies hand because he had been going nuts the entire show, and caught Carlos's eye; he made it a point to come right over to him before leaving the stage. Ah the memories of youth that you keep bringing back to the surface. Thank You.

It is so weird to heard this song without Oye Como Va immediately following--the two songs really fit together. If you ever do a reaction to Oye Como Va, start it at the end of Black Magic Woman so you get the full impact... we used to LOVE that transition!!!

Y'all. "Santana" is the name of the band. The whole band. Not just Carlos. Yes it is Carlos' last name, but the name on the album refers to the band, not the man.
Also, If Gregg Rolie's name seems familiar it is because he went on to help found Journey, and the completely under-rated guitarist, Neal Schon, of Journey studied under Carlos Santana. If you listen closely to the guitar solos in Journey songs, you can hear the Carlos Santana influence on his style.
Hope that helps a little.

Best top 10 memory: My 7th grade art teacher came into class with a record player and the then newly released album of Santana's "Abraxas." All he said was, "Just create whatever the music moves you to do, " and opened up all the supply cabinets. Best creative 55 minutes of our lives!

Gregg Rolie, an outstanding keyboardist and singer, blended so smoothly with the guitar stylings of Carlos Santana and, in my opinion, really made Santana (the group) much better. 🎤🎹✨

The thing about Carlos Santana is, that he plays with his eyes CLOSED! He is TOTALLY playing from the heart. Watch any of his live performances...

Carlos Santana’s guitar has such a distinctive sound. Joe Walsh is like that, too - when you hear them play, there’s no doubt who it is.
