The US needs to update their privacy rights for lottery winners. It’s absurd that only 6 states allow you to remain anonymous.

I bought three scratch off tickets and my best friend was behind me in line he bought a fourth ticket. I didn't win anything he won $150, 000. I was hating myself because I was going to buy 5 tickets and changed my mind. After the shock I was actually happy for him. He did pay for my rent for three months. I never asked or expected him too. That was really cool of him. That really helped my wife and me.

I was dating a woman who had a father that won the lottery years after I had been with her in my local area, the poor guy had no privacy what so ever. People placed hunting cameras outside of his house in order to get an idea when he gets back home or how often he heads out to attempt on hiding from the constant flow of people requesting money from him. People would pick the locks of his home to sneak in to personally confront him for money, or do the same with his woodwork shop in his old garage.

The man eventually disappeared & his immediate household family never heard from him again for over 8 years, they still received money from him every month for rent & bills, food, ect. No one knows where the man went off to, I hope all goes well for him if he ever gathers the will to come back.
