During my first IT interview from after transitioning from retail I joined the virtual interview a few minutes early and overheard the managers trash talking me and my lack of IT experience. 😢

So true, 200+ jobs later for me and I finally landed my first IT job that is actually a really good job.

I had internship and work experience in IT but my degree was in Computer Science, so I guess companies may not have wanted to take a risk on me having some knowledge of both fields. I started out purely applying for CS jobs but it's nearly impossible to land a good one despite living not too far from Chicago. You had to be the best of the best to land a good CS job, so I switched to applying for IT jobs which I had a lot more interviews for. I hope to one day combine the two together and use my knowledge of IT and cloud technology to land a good job.

Thanks for sharing your experience, it's a rough job market nowadays and you have to be so persistent to find the right place, but there is a right place for everyone.

You are right Kev. I completed A+, Network+ and Security+ within 6 months and yet they keep ghosting me. Yet you'll see people getting hired while they're still working on the A+. Some times it's just luck tbh. Oh is that Akuma I see there?

This is so true! I myself just landed my first job in IT that I start next week as a Desktop Support Technician! I got a lot of rejections and ghosts but I stuck to pushing for it and now my career is going to begin. I have no prior experience and no certifications but I am diligently learning and networking as much as I can.

I’m sorry for how they treated you. Sometime ppl want to hire the ppl with experience and over look the passion and willingness in the right candidate. But what don’t break you always make you more knowledgeable and stronger.
I’m happy for you and the way things turn out for you.

I wanna come back to IT field with a certificate. I'm study to go to take Network + exam but I saw a few videos about Active directory I have interest to get some knowledge. Do you have any course about it.
