You're Not Imagining It...Looking For A Job Is Getting Worse. Looking for a new job in today's job market isn't easy. With mass layoffs, employers forcing workers back into the office, the rise of hybrid work arrangements, remote work being harder to find, AI and Chatbots taking over hiring processes, and more, looking for a job is brutal. In this video, I share why.

Just had an interview. They are only asking for 3 years I have 6. I was fine with the salary because it would’ve been a good opportunity. Went on 4 different interviews then they wanted me to come in to meet the director. She showed me around and I met potential coworkers. Director walked me out then I got a rejection email 2 weeks later. This stuff sucks and I’m tired of my time getting wasted.

Its absolutely ridiculous, especially when applying for the most basic, entry-level jobs! You can apply to work in a supermarket and they will have you doing telephone interview, group meetings, team building exercises etc. How many hoops do you have to jump through just stack food on shelves?!

Yep, everybody wants experience and nobody wants to give it.

How did we go from NO ONE wanting to work, to EVERYONE wanting to work?? lol. Everyone says theyre hiring, but they aren't...this is bad.

I’m a hiring manager in the tech industry and you wouldn’t believe the resumes I get. People are panic applying for everything. In the end, the HR profession is to blame for most of this. I have seen job descriptions requiring masters degrees for something that shouldn’t require a degree at all.

It's so discouraging and depressing filling out over 10-20 applications per day for months and not a single job offer.

Im 55 and have 2 science degrees and an associates and got tired of it all. I left the job hunt stress to volunteer with rescue animals and walk dogs and pet sit in relatively affluent area. I have more work than I can handle and really decent pay so far. AI will never replace animal care but it's very physical work. I'm so happy though.

It’s ALWAYS difficult to get a job offer. Recruiters and employers are annoyingly fickle. Any dumb reason NOT to hire someone they will rationalize it.

I’m old enough to remember job hunting in the 80s, 90s, 2000s. Back then, there was a sense of ambition. You could buy a house with a non skilled job. Nowadays, every sector feels saturated with an oversupply of people. AI is going to eat our lunch. Cost of living has decoupled from earnings. I have enough money not to work for several years just by pure luck of “being born early”. I really feel for younger people.

Can confirm, this job market is taking a toll on me. I’ve been applying to jobs for half a year, and getting nowhere. Don’t know how much longer I can do this for. Worked hard for a good degree, graduated in a pandemic with no help from lecturers, and now there’s no opportunities. I hope things get brighter

Getting a job is so frustrating right now, but 8 months ago I just said screw it and quit my toxic job. I’ve been happier ever since. However, the job search right now is just bad. Loads of companies ghosting, tons of rejection letters, and I’m not even going to talk about all the fake scam jobs I’ve been getting. It’s just a mess. I don’t know what to do. I am just about to give up and start a YouTube channel or become a streamer or something. -.-

Every single job application process is acting like you're trying to enter the NASA. Ridiculous

Another rarely mentioned aspect of this job market: a lot of us who were laid off ending up taking pay cuts or went backwards in titles, etc. in order to have any kind of job at all.

Degrees are getting disrespected as well. The job market in US is in shambles

I’m 33, a freelance photographer and work in Film/Tv as an assistant… I applied to Target to do stock overnight part-time to supplement my income… I have 4 years in retail before I started working in entertainment. It was a last resort after applying to over 400 jobs in photography and film, as well as content producing for a slew of companies… had a few interviews, never hired. And Target rejected me from doing stock within 3 days of my application. A job that a monkey can do making $15ph. This country is getting sicker and sicker.

I can't stand my mediocre office job, but trying to find another one is so miserable that I just stay where I'm at

This happened to me few months ago when I showed up to a job interview for a inventory position. We talked about the wage and benefits, went on a tour around the building, showed me the process, met the managers, supervisors and employees. All in all I felt like I got the job by that point since I was there for 3 hours talking with everyone and getting to know everyone...only to find out the next week I didn't get the job because the other person had 6 years of experience...mind you I had 5 years. I felt like I completely wasted my time and I cancelled another interview because of the 3 hour interview. Never again

It feels like the Twilight Zone out here. After applying to several jobs online, I did something I haven't done in a while and went to a career fair to meet recruiters face-to-face in my area. It was utterly terrible. All of the recruiters except for two were either on their phones, literally joking with each other while fixing their hair in the mirror, talking to each other, or sitting around looking like The Guardians of the Work Destiny - just weird attitudes. They were completely uninterested in being there and it was beyond disappointing and demoralizing. Sadly, I felt it was a huge waste of time, not just for me and other hopeful job-seekers, but for the recruiters who obviously didn't want to be there.

Its never taken me more than 3 or 4 weeks to find a job, in my 25 year career. I'm going on 7 months now. (Executive in tech).
