In this Special Edition episode of our series, Mr. Saltwater Tank - Raw, Uncut, and First Impressions (R.U.F.), Mark takes a first look at the Marine Master Multiparameter Checker from Hanna Instruments. We'll review this brand new checker that combines multitudes of tests into one, compact unit, by putting it to work. At this point, I thought Hanna would be coming to market with their own version of a trident/alkatronic.

This is neat. Keeps things into one container for organization. I have a couple of test kits already, but strongly considering this.

This is cool but I already own all the checkers so I will not be a buyer but this is a good thing for people coming into the hobby.

Mark - I’d like to see the steps for Ca with this new unit. I had the Hanna Ca tested and honestly hated it. I ended up returning it after how inconsistent the results were. I wonder if it’s easier with this new product. Thanks!

thanks hanna now i feel like my hanna line up of individual checkers is a waste if only this was announced earlier or released 2 months earlier :(

That seems pretty cool, even if you have an Apex monitoring system, it would be good to have something like this to test against given that you don’t have other test kits already

Very interesting. I wish you did a comparison reading with the egg and match it up with Mult Meter. Just to see if you get a same or different reading. Tell us the price and can you use the same agents from egg on this unit.

For the tests that require you to shake the cuvette to mix up the reagent (like phosphate), does this checker have a magnetic stirrer built in to do the mixing for you? If not, how big is the mixing vial? Will the vial fit in the AutoAqua Smart Stirrer?

why isn't this available on the store anymore?

I love that they included these into one. I'm at the point where investing in a colorimeter would be advisable. Rather than buying 4 or 5 of the separate ones, I can just save up and get 1.

Some initial questions though:
1. Are these the same reagents from the standalone kits being used in this product, or are these a separate set of reagents?
2. Are these the same testing protocols? for example, I've seen video's of the low range NO2 test and people don't like it. That's not a deterrent for me, it's just curiosity about if they simplified any protocols. Or if it's all the same number of steps and reagents, just rolled into one device?

It’s a $100 more than buying all six Hanna checkers individually and does anyone check nitrite after start up? I always used Red Sea test kits and finally switched to the Hanna checkers and found that they are spot on with each other. I bought the IDip and it has a learning curve but it is right there with the Hanna checkers and does have an app. So looks like I need to get 1 of these and compare all 4.
