REKAP ⚾️ Sox 5-3 Win Over the Chicago Cubs - 'That Was a Hell of a win' for the Chicago White Sox!

#Kap says this was a hell of win for the #WhiteSox. They had 10 hits, got some of those hits in important moments, and pitched really well. #ToukiToussaint pitched fine and the bullpen pitched really well. On the other side of town, the #ChicagoCubs were not as good. They only mustered 5 hits tonight. The #Cubs were losing 1-0 after the first inning but came right back after an #IanHapp home run. But the #ChicagoWhiteSox took the lead again the very next inning on an #ElvisAndrus single. #SeiyaSuzuki then hit a home run in the 4th to tie the game.

But later in the game, #LuisRobertJr was at the plate with the game tied. #JulianMerryweather was pitching. He throws 100 mph but tossed a hanging slider over the middle of the plate that Robert hit out of the park. Kap thinks Julian should have stuck with his best pitch, his 100 mph heater. #AlbertAlzolay ended up giving up another run in the 9th inning.

Good win for the #Sox and a disappointing loss for the #Cubs.

Tough loss for the Cubs in this crosstown rivalry. Kyle Hendricks was not at his best today going 6.0 IP and giving up 4 Hits 3 ER his sinker ball and circle change was not located well and the White Sox crushed him early and often. Cubs struggled with runners in scoring position which has been the norm when they’re not hitting the ball out the park. Back home after a 3-3 road trip, the Cubs 61-58 wasted a chance to improve their positioning in the NL wild-card standings. Philadelphia, Miami and Cincinnati all lost. Andrew Benintendi tacked on an insurance run with a two-out RBI double in the ninth, helping the White Sox 48-72 improve to 2-1 against the Cubs this year. Let’s get a cup of coffee ☕️ tomorrow and try to win a ball game. Good review Kap. Go Cubs 💙❤️

Grandal has been horrible for two years, but that throw to second changed the ballgame. If he does not get the runner out, I think the Sox end up losing the game. What a bomb by Robert. Go Sox

If those 2 balks committed by Bummer were called the game might’ve turned out different.

The question is why would you pitch to Robert, Jr. in the 1st place? Christ!

This season is a mess...but beating the Cubs still means something in my world.

😟 I was telling my friend "Watch out with this guy" don't throw a bad pitch. Sure enough it was probably his worse pitch of the year.

I wanna know why the cubs play down to the level of talent here recently. That mets series was hard to watch just like last nights game.

Cubbies gotta be able to beat the bottom of the barrel teams like the mets and white sox. Not just the good ones.

The other day Kaplan said the sox are "mailing it in". A "hell of a win" would suggest otherwise lol. Bottom line is that playoff contenders win these games. Now that the Cubs have dropped two in a row, wouldn't be a stretch to feel that the hot streak is over. I mean, we've seen it a zillion times before. Put together a nice winning run then follow it up with a swoon lol.
Had both channels on last night. I enjoy listening to sox announcers and post-game crew whine when they lose. Anyway, Ozzie was chuckling/crowing about the Sox not helping and essentially screwing the Cubs over after being swept by the Brewers and then beating them. Guess he's right though. Even when the Sox suck they still manage to beat the Cubs and put a little smile on their fan's faces. Sox now have a 6 six game winning streak at Wrigley BTW. Pathetic!!!

The one bit of good news is that LA beat the Brew crew and the Reds went down too, so no ground lost. Just a lost opportunity.

It would be hilarious if this loss causes the Cubs to spiral out of a playoff spot lol

The Only thing the Cubs and their fans have over the White Cox and their Cicada fans in this rivalry Cubs players don't get Punched in the face or beat up on the field a la AJ Pierzinski, Tim Anderson and Robin Ventura.

Cubs have to win these games against shitty opponents. Yesterday we got lucky with everyone else ahead of us losing but they have to win today and sweep the royals

Totally agree. Why pitch to Robert, Jr? Get it together, Cubs! Giving up another chance to move up in the standings! 🤬🤬🤬

White Sox get pounded by the Brewers over the weekend, yet the Cubs couldn't beat them? Cubs better show up to win the next one.

Did anyone see Eloy Jimenez hit a grounder deep to the hole in short and he dogged it running down to first base. Out by over 15 feet.
EMBARASSING!

You lose a crucial game to a team that already has their bags packed? Brutal. Even the Sox were laughing at the end of that game wondering how in the hell did that just happen. When you're chasing, it's demoralizing to lose games like that to a team like the White Sox, who basically let the Brewers walk all over them at home. And Robert Jr. is suddenly healthy AFTER the Brewers leave town, huh? And I don't know who decided to throw that cement mixer slider to the best hitter on their team in a late inning tie game. That pitch selection was absolutely pathetic. Awful loss tonight.

That was so embarrassing That throw by Sox catcher was money

I don't know why these guys are so frail, they stub a toe and go on the DL.
Hockey players can lose 4 or 5 teeth and barely miss a shift.
