How to Add Gigabit Ethernet to Amazon Firestick & Triple Your Speeds

Adding Ethernet to Firestick allows for a consistent Internet connection but not necessarily a faster one.

The new Amazon Fire TV Sticks offer strong WiFi chips that work extremely well especially when connected to a quality WiFi 6 router. But, some people need Ethernet on Firestick due to considerable distance from wireless router or they want a consistent connection through Ethernet.

This video shows how to triple your download speeds on a Firestick with the UGREEN Gigabit USB Adapter as compared to the Amazon Ethernet Adapter.

If you need Ethernet on Firestick this video tutorial is for you!

To those saying you don’t need over 100mbps blab la bla bla : this is for us nerds we take extreme pleasure in doing these little tricks to get what we pay for .

I think Firestick 4K (+ even 4K max) is usb 2.0 protocol. The max theoretical bandwidth of USB 2.0is 480Mbs. So full gigabit is never possible, but 200Mbs+ is excellent and will cope with 4K content w/o buffering issues.

Maximum speed using any USB adapter is 450Mbps because of USB limitations. Real reason you want a wired connection is because WiFi routers will randomly drop WiFi devices whenever their cache fills up or there's too much chatter because of data loss. WiFi typically loses a third of the data which can create a backlog of data requests

I have it all connected through the UGREEN adapter, but when I go to the Network, I do not see Ethernet or Wired connection. Is it possible that it's the age of my Firestick? Should I remove my wi-fi?

308Mbps from a 1GB connection with this method where previous with the official Amazon adaptor it was held at 95Mbps. ~Thanks a lot

Hey Troy. I have done everything here but the speed test is still capped at 100mb. Using a gigabit adapter and a CAT6 cable. Any ideas?

For anyone who's firestick won't recognise the ethernet connection. Turn WiFi off / forget it on the firestick and (as silly as it sounds) wiggle the cable where ethernet connection meets the otg cable. This worked for me

In your configuration, can you add a USB drive to add more storage and offload some apps yet still get fast Ethernet speed?

I can't find an OTG DOUBLE in any stores so I tried a USB multi point but it did not work soo frustrating.

I have tried this on my LG TVs. C10 (X) and C3 and for some reason the OTG cable doesn’t show up on the Firestick. If I hard reset it it shows for a split second then it’s gone. Works on my Sony tv but not on LG. Out of ideas lol.

unfortunately the UGREEN adapter you link to in your video has been changed, this links to one without an RJ45 port, could you please update pointing to the right one. Sorry but i bought the wrong one from Amazon by following the link, and realised I may not be the only one. thanks.

I purchased the single gigabit UGREEN ethernet adapter and tried to use it with an OTG cable to the Firestick but it would not work, the firestick power cord doesn't seem to supply enough power to the single UGREEN adapter to illuminate the lights on the ethernet port (the green light briefly lights up then turns off), but if I plug the UGREEN's USB connector into my computer both the orange & green lights stay on. I see the UGREEN adapter Troy is using here in his video but my question is how does this one differ from the one I purchased? Thanks in advanced for your help!
