Cops: In training we had to get pepper sprayed to understand it's effects.
Paramedics: Hahahah, the nitrous oxide go

When they gave me Dilaudid in the ER for my burns, I was like, I said I was in pain, but not THIS kinda pain! I do NOT _deserve_ this stuff!" I was a pharmacy tech for 7 years, and as a result of the many ruined lives I saw, opioids scared the shit out of me. After actually taking some, I'm even more terrified of them. Everything in my universe was _perfectly_ OK. "Except, nurse, could you turn off that beeping noise in the station across from me?" "I'm afraid not, sir, if we do that, a person might die." "oh, good point. We don't want that. I'll try to put up with it. You're a very beautiful lady, you know. In fact, everybody here is so beautiful! When I get home I'm going to bake you all some cookies because I really appreciate you all taking care of me so well!" Meanwhile, I was at least partially aware that at least half of my house had caught fire. I am not even remotely exaggerating. These are actual words that fell out of my normally extremely shy, introverted mouth.

Nitrous oxide - anaesthetic, reduces pain
Adenosine - treats heart arrhythmia
Nitroglycerin - dilates veins to treat heart conditions
Succinylcholine - muscle relaxant, facilitates intubation
Morphine - reduces pain, alters emotional response to pain
Valium - treats seizures, anxiety, insomnia
Dilaudid - reduces pain, "stronger morphine"
Epinephrine - adrenaline, makes you ready for fight or flight
Lasix - treats fluid build-up such as edema
Tetracaine - local anaesthetic for eyes, nose, throat
Haldol - antipsychotic, treats mania, agitation

I would not recommend testing EVERY Drug when you work in Oncology

As someone who has had an anaphylactic reaction 3 times in my life I guarantee that is what EPI feels like. Although when I've had it administered it was more "OMG MY AIRWAY IS OPEN" and less "IM ON METH!!!"

As a pharmacy technician, this is hilarious and so accurate. It's always fun trying to guess what meds a new patient is on when they come in like this 😂

I laughed so hard at the “more nitrous oxide” xD

True story:
Once a patient came in to the pharmacy demanding her valium. She said she was out a week before it was due. Meanwhile, she kept falling asleep while standing at the counter.
We politely told her that we would no longer be filling her meds. She was so out of it that she didn't even argue.

I had to have emergency surgery, and for whatever medical reason they needed me to be conscious for as long as possible. I have no clue what drug they gave me but I was completely awake and aware for the entire procedure but I did not care. They could have amputated a limb and I wouldn't have cared. It terrifies me such a drug even exists, but I was glad at the same time.

To be fair, this would be an _incredibly_ effective way to teach contraindications.

"Because I Got High" was my ringtone for my favorite coworker, he was a recovery counselor. He passed away several years ago, so it was nice hearing the song. Almost like saying hi again.

I had an isntructor that told me she did this. "She wanted to feel what it was like what she did to her patients." 🤷🏽‍♂️🤣

Yup, the reaction from the Haldol is pretty accurate! I was on that as a teen, and I was drugged up pretty much out of my mind for at least a few years.
Parents really need to think twice before giving that to their kid.
But the nitrous oxide reaction was definitely hilarious!

0:41 if you're wondering if thats what Epinephrine feels like, can confirm. Had anaphylaxis and had to give myself a epi-pen shot. On top of my adrenaline pumping in me rushing to get help on top of my epi.. I was literally shaking and breathing hard and literally felt like that video but triple it.

The sad thing is, I've had *most* of those administered to me (in an ambulance or in the ER) at some point or another. Just not Succinylcholine, Haldol, and no Lasix (for those thinking "that's a lot of medications, I've had two heart attacks, multiple allergic reactions, survived cancer, have epilepsy, and yeah... list goes on). Dilaudid is one of the best damn pain killers I've ever had. No deleterious effects with me, doesn't give me brain fog either.

I'm not a medic, but I can flat vouch for the truth behind the Lasix effects. The Haldol, Morphine, and Valium were on point, too. AfroMan's "Because I Got High" in the background for the Laughing Gas was priceless..I'm still crying from laughing so hard!

I’m a nurse and this gets funnier the more I watch it. Good work!
