911 is for Emergencies, Not Discipline

The 911 emergency response system is designed to provide help in the event of a true emergency. Sometimes it’s difficult to determine if a call for help justifies the use of police and fire resources to help. However disobedient children that don’t want to go to school or listen to parents and caretakers are certainly NOT an example of that.
Surprisingly, a leading examples of people calling 911 for non-emergencies were parents calling 911 for assistance in disciplining their children (i.e. Officer, make my child go to school, they won’t listen to me). Police and Firefighters are there to help, not to intimidate.

The Lakeland Fire Department and the Lakeland Police Department are always there for you when you need them most, but remember KEEP 911 FOR EMERGENCIES!

This was how I was disciplined all the time when I was a little kid. Of course, it was fake calling, but it would always scare me when they would say that the police would arrest me for not eating my dinner or not doing my homework

My narcissistic grandma did this to me over everything. If I went somewhere she'd call police, if I refused to help her ( I dropped out of school at 16 to take care of her) or if I went to school she'd call the police saying I'd neglected her.

It's called dragging your child out of bed. My parents did that with me when I didn't want to get out of bed, and it worked.
