At U.S. Soccer, keeping our players, coaches and referees safe is our highest priority. Cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in the United States, and while it may not be that common on the pitch, it’s an emergency you should be prepared for. The training in this video may be the difference in saving the life of one of your players, teammates, coach or referee.

I appreciate you bringing awareness for the need of CPR training. Just please check for breathing and a pulse first. You can take up to 10 seconds for this. Also, please use a dummy next time to show proper, aggressive compressions, instead of just ‘jiggling’ the chest. The needed 2 inch push for teens & adults is a deep compression. Keep your elbows locked, letting your shoulders & body weight do the work. Fast is also necessary, but not that fast; you have to allow the rib cage to fully recoil in between compressions. For you older folks, compress to the beat of ‘Stayin’ Alive’. For you younger ones, use ‘Uptown Funk’. If help is available, switch CPR providers about every 2 minutes, with minimal interruption in compressions, to avoid fatigue. You can also cut the shirt around the provider’s hands to avoid interruption. Make sure the chest isn’t too sweaty. And finally, remember that the red-marked AED pad goes on the left side of the patient’s chest, not like in the video.

I find this video good for teaching you to act immediately and not waste time because every minute survival drops by 10% but I find some things wrong: 1- the coach didn't evaluate If it was cardiac arrest or something and it was enough to take 10 seconds to verify it. 2- the boy who performed the cardiac massage bent his arms and did not keep them extended.

Love the CPR and AED awareness. Definitely, need to show them checking for a pulse and breathing. You don't want people attempting CPR on someone who just feinted.

Also when you say 100 times per minute, you should show the coach actually doing 100 times per minute, and not the 200 he was actually doing.

All in all good video, just missing some key things.

My dad did this course at his juco and this actually helped him to be a nfhs coach and ais coaching certified coach. These kind of videos help a lot.

Very nice and practical video. One thing, shouldn’t the persons chin be lifted up so that the airways are not being obstructed?

Also make sure to be fast, drop anything and dont care about anything else expect saving the person, check breathing and pulse, if pulse is not right, use a aed then cpr

For everyone saying to check for a pulse, most CPR training classes are removing that from the requirements for CPR because of the difficulty in checking pulse in favor of checking for signs of breathing instead. However, if you are watching this video, while this is great for basic Hand Only CPR, I highly recommend taking a CPR/AED training class to get the extra experience necessary to save a life.

This seems like it's been designed to sell a particular type of AED and to advertise this campaign. Instead of showing the first steps to saving a life !

Great video. But aren’t you supposed to check his airway first? In case he swallowed his tongue?
