James "Jamo" Thomas went to prison at the age of 15 and served 30 years for a homicide conviction.But now, he is a regional connector for the Incarcerated Children's Advocacy Network (ICAN) in Detroit, a project of the Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth (CFSY). He spends his time giving back to his community, mentoring youth and helping returning citizens transition to life outside of prison. He also campaigns to end life without parole for young offenders.
