How to Fight Multiple Attackers | 5 Rules to Survive & Defend Yourself in a Fight

This video discusses how to control your position in a fight, where to look when you have multiple opponents moving around you, how to line up the gang of attackers so that it is easier to fight one on one, and when you should run away from the fight.

Self defence is always hard in the street, but it is even harder when you are faced with multiple attackers (or gangs), so expect to get hit, but punch as hard as you can.

These simple Wing Chun techniques are taught at the London Wing Chun Academy in our self defence training program for beginners. These self defence techniques are a combination of well tested Wing Chun concepts and reality based self defence techniques.

No matter how good you are at martial arts or Wing Chun the goal is to evade and escape your attackers. Be safe. Contact the London Wing Chun Academy for more information on our self defence classes for beginners.

Please leave a comment if you have any other advice on how to manage a fight with multiple attackers or questions on these 5 important self defence techniques.

I wish more MMA gyms taught these methods instead of focusing on ring sports techniques. Never going to compete again but will probably need this a lot more as crime increases in my area. Thank you this is life saving.

Awesome. I had an instructor go over that with me a long time ago. He was so good at it we couldn't even get a hit on him. Made us feel like a bunch of idiots. This is something that we should all practice more often because in this world today people are not going to fight in a respectful way.

There can be tons and tons of videos of how to fight off multiple attackers, but it's always different when you have experienced the actual situation/attack.
As i was taught, when fighting multiple attackers, you KO (or seriously debilitate) the nearest attacker 1st, and line all the bad guys up to create a narrow vision for yourself. Have the mindset of "Fight to Escape"... It's more difficult fighting more than one bad guy than it actually looks and sounds. More than likely, you'd get hit or injured pretty bad. But this video was very helpful.

Well done. Yep that’s how it’s done. The goal is to survive the attack at all costs. I have employed the same strategy on more than one occasion and it works. It doesn’t happen often but it DOES occur. The line theory works during a riot too. The one thing to avoid is letting one or more to get behind you. Good vid!

The advice he gives about forcing a line-formation on the opponents is brilliant.

First rule is never to lose self-confidence.
Second rule is always to look at all directions and make sure your opponents are in front of you so they don't backstab.
Third rule(if you a wrestler) never look for takedowns or you'll be stomped on the ground by other opponents. Instead use boxing/Muay Thai skills.

The rest rules come from your fighting training and skills you've learnt from your gym/dojo.

Quickly get to your car before the gang gets to you. And run them over if possible. When outnumbered always be cunning. So to recap. Disengage if weak. Engage if strong. Car is stronger than gang. Good to go. Insurance will cover it. You'll have to pay a little premium. Always save money for a rainy day.

Thanks for the video, my brother got attacked last night by 12 assailants. He has 2 mates with him who also took a beating.
My brother has 2 black eyes, busted lip and multiple cuts to his body, and a concussion. His friends got glassed and a broken jaw.
This video will hopefully help him if that scenario occurs again.

Thank you

The guy has 2 pairs of hands 2:35...lol. really like this guy, he knows his stuff, is really quick. its frightening to think that anyone could get jumped by a big group, so this video does make you think what you would do. I really would like to learn some of this stuff. great video :)
