Why is this the World’s Most Advanced Jet?

The F-35B Lighting II is the creme de le creme of air combat. It isn’t the fastest jet in the world with a top speed of only 1,234mph. Thats over 3,350 mph slower than the USAF X-15.

However, what it lacks in speed it makes up for in tech. For starters the F-35 can take off and land vertically like a harrier using an extremely powerful fan or utilizing its rear nozzle to take off from extremely small platforms removing the need for ramps on aircraft carriers.

F-35s also act like hive minds, communicating with each other in the air, relaying enemy positions and other data straight into the pilots headset. This along with the planes sensors, allow them to see targets underneath their own aircraft and see all relevant information no matter where they look via the ar headset each pilot wears.

This headset alone costs around $350,000.

The F-35B is also a master of stealth, firstly it purposefully lacks any 90 degree angles such as that on an f-16 and instead has a v tail similar to the nighthawk. This makes it much harder for radar signals to be reflected back to the receiver, massively reducing the chance of detection. The f-35 also uses special tape, as seen on these bits thats sole purpose is to increase the distance radar waves are scattered further reducing the chance of detection.

Even the material of the plane itself is designed specifically to absorb radar waves.

Lastly, like a normal fighter jet, the F-35B has flares to defend against heat seeking missiles. However, this does nothing against radar guided missiles. So for this threat, the F-35B can release this thing, it first tries to jam enemy radar stopping the missiles from locking on.

Then if a lock is obtained by the enemy missile it tries to break it by disrupting the tracking algorithms of the missile. However, if all else fails, it will then emit a radar signature mimicking the F-35, drawing the enemy missile to itself rather than the plane.

The f-35 is more versatile than the f-22, and it can do everything very well
When the f-22 is just a god at stealth and combat, the f-35 is cheaper and more versatile than the f-22 so that’s why it is used more
