Comedian and activist Jon Stewart has long voiced support for veterans' health benefits.

After playing a key role in the years-long legislative battle to ensure compensation for first responders to the Sept. 11 attacks never runs out of money, Jon Stewart is now focusing on veterans who were sent to Iraq and Afghanistan in response to the attacks.

Stewart is specifically advocating for health benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits while overseas.

"This delay is unconscionable," Jon Stewart said, referring to how long it's taken to secure health benefits for 3.5 million veterans exposed to the burn pits. "They had their chance to be responsible and they blew it."

A new bill called the Honoring Our Pact Act would provide the desired health benefits to 3.5 million veterans exposed to burn pits.

As of Tuesday, March 29, the bill had passed the House en route to the Senate.

Thank you for saying this!!!! My husband and all the veterans we know have experienced such hardship. This is a travesty. You said it perfectly “How can we put America first when we put our veterans last?”!
