I've always pretty much operated under the assumption that the biblical flood was global, but now I'm not so sure.

Cue all the people who can't handle different perspectives. 😅

I went down this same path of exploration a few decades ago. What I came to was this. Local flood means no need to save the animals. It also equals no need for an ark. “Noah, take your family and the handful of animals that only exist in this local area, and go someplace else, because I am about to flood this region!” would have solved the problem.

Could it possibly be that because the earth was one land mass at the time of the flood, that it did indeed cover the whole land? Jasher 17: 19 says that the earth was divided after the tower of Babel, which occurred after the flood. This was something that my daughter and I discussed in our Bible study this morning. Great video, Shelley!

Good job. Greek is critical! People just don’t realize how different our languages are. And that’s important, because although hebrew matters, ancient Hebrew is a dead language. Modern hebrew is like a totally different language from actual hebrew used to write the Torah. Therefore the Septuagint and NT Greek translations suddenly become the only way to truly grasp ancient Aramaic, and for me less importantly, proper ancient hebrew. The Greeks knew.

Pastor Bertrand Comparet spoke so well on these topic, can still find videos of him around, highly recommend it.

You got it right, Shelly! Very well presented synopsis of the first portion of Beyond Creation Science.

Just realize there is more to come in the 2nd half of the book.

Eschatology is really the key that opens Genesis, since most everyone agrees that Genesis is the beginning of the story that comes to fulfillment in Christ.

Thanks for the video. Very encouraging to see friends learning more details of Scripture, even if they disagree with our conclusions at points.

I think this will have profound effects in the long-term.

Blessings,

Tim Martin

Gavin Ortlund, a well-known evangelical scholar and the creator at the “Truth Unites” YouTube channel, also leans towards a local flood view

Not debating on if it’s local or not, but it seems to me that the waters arose above the hills 15 cubits, not that it was 15 cubits high from ground level. Thx for providing great engaging content.

Never understood why someone who doesn't agree with you would continue to listen. My husband grips about certain channel, I tell him, then don't listen to them anymore....Daaah!😀. I appreciate you tho!

Alright, if it was a local flood then then why would Noah have to even build an ark and fill it with animal? He could've just moved away. And God repeatedly said he would judge the WHOLE earth ( in the context God is speaking is the entire world). God also said he wouldn't flood the whole earth again, but if he is referring to a local flood then you'd be calling God a liar. We also have geological evidence supporting a global flood, And marine fossils that reach up to Mount Everest.

I, too, shuffled back n forth with the global/local idea. I keep thinking tho, that if it were local, would Noah have needed to load up so many types of animal? But also have heard good reasoning on local theory.? God bless & thanks for sharing thoughts we your brothers & sisters in Christ.

What do you think the boundary was for your local flood? Why would animals have to be saved for a local flood? Did it take a year for the water to subside on a local flood? A total flood covering the whole flat earth is the only thing that makes sense.
