This is definitely a biased take... SF is way too expensive and home values are not falling... which the market would determine if there was no/lower demand. So we have a few companies leaving and homeless encampments (most/ almost every major city has these... not to mention caused by the free market, opioid epidemic/big pharma profits) and now the sky is falling lol. Some of their policies are foolish but it is not as dire as you may want it to be. All cities go through boom and bust cycles, just like the market.
The big issues is 1. downtown (where you see all these homeless, petty crime), the work from home shift has caused issues like this in most cities. But the petty crime videos are all from like 2-3 years ago around the end of covid, not very informative to the issues of today. 2. The cost to live is also extremely high, but this is due to supply/demand not evil liberal policies lol. And crime is over exaggerated by the haters but listen it could always be better.
You also claim SF made this "mess" all on it's own. Yet ignore that most homeless come from other states, the drug epidemic is nationwide, SF just has a really attractive climate.
Solution: Make more affordable housing for a more resilient/diverse (blue collar etc) and stop letting selfish homeowners decide the policies that just increase their profit margin at the expense of everyone else. And the nation needs to address homelessness and drug addiction together.

Arizonan here! 4 years ago pre pandemic or the beginning of the pandemic it was one of the cheapest states to live in. Especially southern Arizona. Now is the top 10 most expensive states to live in. So maybe you should remove AZ out of the list lol we have all California, Florida, NY and so on lol
