It’s really bad here in California. Homelessness, taxes, housing, crime, politics. It’s getting worse

My dad bought our family home in SF in 1971 for 48k. It is now worth 2.7 million but looks like it should cost 48k. The cost of living in California is beyond belief. The cost, the traffic, the homelessness! This is not inflation. This is madness.

What pisses me off is that californias pays the highest tax income, highest gas tax, hughes electricity prices and much more and what do we get in return expensive rent, high crime rate, homeless and a government that can't do its fucking job

Many of my family and friends couldn’t believe I didn’t wanna come back to California after I got my degree on the East coast. They would say, why would you want to live anywhere else?! Fast forward ten years, I’m giving them advice on how to move out of California. Get out while you can.

I was in denial about the declining state of California like “If you don’t like it then leave, losers”…then, I began to look around. The tents scattered everywhere, mental disease, rent prices, food prices, taxes, crime. I’m so glad I left

As a California native, seeing California's slow decline isn't even the depressing part, its the masses that are in complete denial and still claiming its the best state in the country.

when the price of housing becomes unaffordable for median income earners, that society is in decline. I saw the same thing in Hong Kong. No young person I met there wanted to stay in HK. They all wanted to come to the US. The main reason was that they could work a well paying corporate job and still never be able to afford a decent sized home. A society that screws over their middle class like this will go into decline.

“It’s easy to save $100k in ten years?” For whom sir?!?!? As a someone born and raised in CA with kids, student loans etc..the sunny days are no longer cutting it.

To those who are watching, It's only good until you get involved in a crime. Then you realize the court and the law is not in favor of the victim, whether it be yourself, your children, or your elders. No amount of sunshine tax, diversity, a good food selection, or walking in T shirts on a beach in February will ever be worth the well being of your family.

If you're from California, you know why. We just left. Our kid needs a better school, our family needs a better quality of life. The stress of knowing all it takes is one misfortune in life and you could be struggling to stay afloat. The state is absolutely beautiful but so much of it has gone downhill including the people and we didn't see it improving anytime soon. It's really sad.

Most Austin natives hate the influx of new residents who are pushing up house prices and making Austin expensive. It's just a cycle, and Austin will follow like San Francisco. Prices will keep skyrocketing for some years while all the locals are priced out and forced to leave. Then when things reach a breaking point, those same businesses and their employees will leave for a cheaper place.

I wanted to move to Cali but I'm grateful I didn't. I visited LA and was turned off. It wasn't the prices it was the homeless. Makes it hard to believe the state supports its people with so many on the streets. It was sad. I seriously hope California resets their priorities in coming years

I left California 6 years ago. Currently, I settled down in Michigan. I live in Ann Arbor. I think the housing market here is much more affordable for settlements than in California.

I left California after 43 years and now live in a small town in New Mexico with access to a bigger city when the need calls me. Affordability, friendliness and the outdoor lifestyle are what drew me here. California is beautiful and cutting edge but these aspects have been severely eroded over the years.

I was grateful beyond words when my daughter moved back to Missouri after leaving California. She made good money but returned broke. California is a great place to visit but not to live!

Moved to the Philippines to stretch my money until things get better in California. It’s a nice change, getting to live a simple life for once. I always felt stressed and anxious living in LA

Left after 25 years….it’s so bad. The homelessness, the housing prices, the drugs, the crime, it’s terrible. There are better places in the world. Travel more and find them 🥰🙏🏽
