Please know, your video presence is still incredibly authentic and approachable, your instructions and demonstrations are practical and logical and easy to follow. I have two sills with rot in the front of my house, and I thought I was going to have to replace 7 windows (to keep the look coherent). That's expensive. Your video taught me two successfully replace three sills for "normal" size double hung windows. Thanks!!! Much appreciated. But now I have a larger picture window and have 3 concerns.
1) I presume the 2x4 rough sill framing provides the main support. On the inside, just the drywall? It's raised higher than the rough sill, won't the drywall break?
2) Why is there a little groove along the interior face of a pre-cut sill?
3) If a pre-cut sill is lacking sufficient depth (from outside to inside), because the wall is too thick what's the best way to proceed? Mill a custom sill? Join another board to the interior length? Give up and call a pro?
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
