Let’s Speedrun 2 Player Slime Rancher with SmallAnt

Today I speedrun multiplayer Slime Rancher with @Smallant for the sole purpose of beating world record. The multiplayer mod is crazy and lets us do a ton of cool skips, so the runs get crazy fast

Frequently asked questions (taken from an old world record speedrun video):

Q: "Why don't you skip all the gates?"
A: It is required to open 5 slime gates to get the credits starmail. The other requirements are opening the ancient ruins gate, activating the glass desert teleporter and reading the final H note.

Q: "Why do you skip over the slime gates if you open them?"
A: We skip over certain gates so we don't have to wait for the opening animation to finish.

Q: "Why do you have to read all the starmail?"
A: To get the credits starmail you must read all previous casey mails, you will only recieve a starmail when the previous one has been read.

I remember the first time I exploded a Gordo Slime.
I definitely didn't expect it to happen, I thought it'd just them them enough energy to move their big fat bodies to the side.

All the things you described as "weird" (Double key, more slimes, more plorts etc) is because of the way my mod handles stuff :D
Basically, because its a physics game, I want to loadbalance things. So each players is responsible for different slimes.
Sometimes, due to packet loss or ping, actions can happen simultanius on multiple clients, like popping a gordo.
That would double the key, same with plorts :D

It's basically a compromise to keep performance in tact.

I think the key glitch could have worked with the giant pink slime, but SmallAnt ran out of food before the giant pink slime exploded.

I really love multiplayer speedruns. The added complication of having multiple people alongside the potential for crazy new strats makes them so cool.

SmallAnt learned how to play and got some speedrunning strats down incredibly fast, impressive! Probably a mixture of his skill playing games (assuming here, I haven’t watched his videos) and EazySpeezy’s skill explaining things well.

Theory: The Honey Gordo gave 2 keys because you were both feeding it its favorite food, but Gordos can only grow and pop so fast. So by the time it stopped eating, it had 100/50 points, and wonked out two keys.

Following this, you possibly could have done the same with Cuberries and the Phosphor Gordo. It wouldn’t work with the Pink Gordo because it doesn’t have a favorite food and they can handle the two points at a time output you managed.

I absolutely love speedrunning this game, my pb is a 16:45 and I just got the slime hover trick down the other day. But lemme tell ya, those top guys 112% are on another level. There are only so many ways to improve your run without attempting the crate hover 6 minutes in and ruining the whole run if you fail.
