Was Qatar and Boeings' blockbuster 737 MAX-10 deal just a rouse to help both companies benefit from the publicity? Or did the MAX 10 deal just break down?

Been saying it for months.. Al Baker has crossed the line with Airbus and is starting to pay the price. Those 50 new jets have already been sold to other companies and those Airbus customers are happy to get the jets earlier. The only looser here is unfortunately Qatar Airways. When you play dirty tricks doing business and get caught - you have to be prepared for the consequences. 🤷🏻‍♂️✈️🤗

As a regular Qatar Airways customer, and a lover of Airbus aircraft, particularly A 380 and A 350, I really hope Airbus and Qatar solve their dispute amicably. Can be done.

A very reasonable speculation, to say the least! But the winner is clear: Airbus. Qatar's bluff called and Boeing left holding a bag full of...air.

Let me speculate this way;
In the old 80/20 rules of business, sometimes a customer isn't worth the trouble. You see this with Airbus and Ryanair. Until AAB is turfed, I think Airbus won't be particularly eager to deal with Qatar. If they want A321's, they'll have to go through a lessor.

Boeing, on the other hand - was trying to increase it's leverage with Congress, with this smoke and mirrors deal. "Hey - ya gotta give us an extension, otherwise we'll lose deals like this Qatar thing, for billions! Your killing us!!"

They're probably not pleased that this came out, in court...

Maximus, you said that in the Airbus lawsuit w/Qatar, "Boeing's name came up in court b/c of their blockbuster Jan. MAX 10 deal w/Airbus." I didn't know Boeing & Airbus were makin' deals for MAX 10's 🤔🧐, interesting.
*Hope you're pickin' up the sarcasm b/c I'm layin' it on pretty thick.

Thank you Maximus, great story. It reminds of the Giant of Ireland getting into a fight with the Giant of Scotland. After a proper set-to on the Irish coast, no one won and the Scottish giant slunk back to his lands. To make sure he didn’t come back, the Giant of Ireland scooped up an enormous handful of earth and heaved it across the sea at his departing back. Thus today we have Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea. A bit like the Airbus and Boeing squabbles - all posturing, with plenty of sound and fury but signifying big profits for both.

I knew this was odd that Qatar was making such a fuss about the A350's paint defects, especially since Airbus offered additional re-paints to other airlines, on their own dime.

I respect Qatar's CEO on most issues he says, but not this one. Yes, the paint peeling off of your brand-new jet is annoying, and could be dangerous if not addressed, but Airbus DID offer to fix its mistake and paint the jets with their own money. At that point, I believe Qatar should've accepted that deal, as the problem would've been solved.

I don't like planemakers going after their customers, as you can't insult those who you expect to buy your product, but this is one of the few cases where I think the planemaker is in the right, and the airline is in the wrong.

The thing about sales people don't understand. Everyone gets paid when product is DELIVERED, everything else is theatrics.

The Max Deal never put any pressure on Airbus. The Airbus A321neo family is sold out for years. Other airlines are lining up to get those slots.

The problem for Airbus is the reputation loss of the A350 and the possible self-grounding-compensation precedent. So they cant give in anyway.

They will just let QA rage all day long till they go with Boeing or give in. No big damage for Airbus in both cases.

Boeing is that girl who says yes to being seen in public with her longtime crush even though she knows he’s just using her to get back at his ex.

Trouble is, the ex couldn’t care less and even wishes them good luck and good riddance.

I'm in agreement 🤝 with you Maximus. A game of smoke and mirrors. “- Mr. Rate: The world is not always as it seems, is it son?"

There's a lot of conspiracy in this particular report. I'm glad Maximus concluded it as such.
Another theory is that Qatar Airways told Airbus that the deal expired precisely because they didn't want Airbus to see what kind of deal was made on the Max, which could potentially reduce any compensation they may get from Airbus.
Furthermore, no document was ever produced about the deal having expired either. Qatar Airways didn't want Airbus to sell the aircraft that was slated to be delivered to them in an attempt to hurt Airbus financially if they were going to lose the case on the A350.
Airbus has a right to cancel the A321 order because they have 2 year backlog and can easily move other airlines ahead of Qatar Airways. If Qatar Airways still needs that size narrowbody, clearly they would get their hands on the Airbus before the Boeing. However, ultimately the Boeing will be the only suitable replacement if Airbus refuses to sell them the A321.
Yeah, my head is spinning too. 😂

Hey Qatar, "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes". Grab your bag of money and move to the back of the 321NEO line...

Maybe Al Baker needs to fall on his own sword to get Qatar out of this debacle. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

What you have presented makes sense. Observing these "captains of industry" is akin to watching a bunch of vindictive middle schoolers.
No wonder so many things are so messed up. Well, if nothing else, they do provide a certain level of entertainment. It's like the great
philosopher said in the movie Airplane - "They're all cheats and liars!".

How did "Airbus & Qatar (see) an opportunity that would be beneficial to both companies & rattle Airbus in the process??" Why would Airbus consider a deal that "rattles" their company be beneficial to them?? 🤔🧐
