Driving home a great point here David - when you've already got everything where you want it to be .. you can't go up! Just pull everything else down to introduce that contrast <3

My verses stay at 0dBFS, pre-choruses up by .02dB and Choruses to .05dB. I've tried up 1dB for Choruses, but it just feels like too much and then you have to worry about your mixbus compressor clamping down too much as well. Also, my guitars are usually panned 50% on verses and pre-choruses and then 100% for the Choruses.

My trick for widening the chorus is to hard pan vocals (depending on the song, of course). I don't usually like widening plugins like imagers but I found myself using the imager from iZotope's Ozone on a master to widen the high frequencies a bit and Waves' Vitamin to narrow some of the low end.
