I don't understand why the owners would support anything that speeds up the game. Less time to sell merch or food or beer. This will cut into profits.

At 5:04 you say the first thing I don't follow, so either you (Senor) or perhaps another viewer could answer if they know. You state that if the batter doesn't advance during his plate appearance then the disengagements reset to two. But, if he "doesn't advance" he's out, right? So, if I understand you're just saying it resets for the next batter, which makes sense. Perhaps I didn't understand but that's the best I could take from what you said. Any contributions to my understanding appreciated.

If anything, they should do it like softball, where there's another 1st base in foul territory. That way, the runner stays in foul territory the whole time and there's no weird arguments about runner interference with throws from the catcher as well

The only way to speedup a game is to have lesscommercials breaks

"Baseball will never be like the NFL or NBA"? Maybe not, but it's trending in that direction. Baseball's house is burning and those than run it and play it are chiefly responsible. All these rules are being adopted because of one thing - analytics. The marriage of the game to advanced analytics has increased the length of games, led to the overuse of the shift, driven down anything resembling action, and largely have made the game almost unwatchable if you're not in the stadium. I've been watching the game for 45 years, and up until 10 years ago or so watched games regularly on TV throughout the year. These days, it's an effort to watch a few because of the product on the field.

All this might be whining from an old fan, but we'll see - the bottom line is how many eyeballs MLB will draw. Does anyone think that implementation of these rules will help on that front? We'll see.

You want a faster game? Move the fences back out ten feet and the mound back up to 15 inches. Boo. Done. However, be prepared for the litany of whining that happens when "not enough scoring" happens. But, your pitchers will all shave about a run or so off their ERA's.
