Family of teen killed on Orlando ride call for action

14-year-old, Tyre Sampson, died in a fall from the Orlando FreeFall attraction, billed as the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower, which is taller than the Statue of Liberty. The company that operates the thrill ride said it is working with authorities to determine what happened.

Tyre should have told them he could not close the drop worker should have checked tyrees harness. The maker of the drop should have had a plan b seat belt. Lots of things that should have happened didn't which resulted in a horrific event.

Some are going to be mad, but ok...If she's saying that ride after ride told him he was TOO BIG, why would YALL continue to let him go searching for rides to get on? He was already told more than once and by his height, weight I'm sure this isn't the fist time or that yall didn't know better. If the the workers are at fault, then yes the owners should be held responsible and I'm sure they have insurance and the parents will be paid. Sad way to lose life, just trying to enjoy yourself!

The "tilt" as a mechanism deployed when the ride is at the top is a "poor" engineer decision. Although he wasn't completely "locked" by the shoulder harness, having the seats remaining "upright" for a balanced "free fall" position would have saved his life.

Having teenagers working in this kind of rides is a big "No" . They are not mature enough to understand that other people's lives are in their hands. Second of all why would they take a 14 year old who is 300 lbs to an amusement park knowing he won't be able to get in any of the rides. This case is just sad and could have been prevented.

I’m sorry this ride if it’s going to continue to operate it needs to have seatbelts put in place. Seatbelts the locks to harness down into place. You’re going almost 500 feet into the air, and falling at 20 miles an hour. There is no reason why this ride should have even been approved to be i con park.
